It seems on the surface of things that the resale value of 3P bots are higher with the boxes. But, I'm, not 100% sure on that. Would you say you ought to be able to pull a resale for nearly the same value without the original box? My dilemma stems from lack of space, unfortunately. Lots of toys, and lots of boxes, and not really enough space to keep it all. What do you do?

I wish 3rd party companies used colapsable boxes so they would take up less space.

If a figure never comes in a box ( open and play Galvatron ) I'm fine with that. If a figure has a box.. I can't throw it away

I never sell anything I bought, so I keep the boxes because I find them beautiful for the most part (KFC, FT (recent boxes) GT and TFM).

I have a place for boxes and other for the figures.

Most people here seem to swear you can get the same amount for a boxed vs an unboxed (Last time this came up) but personally I find the handful I sold, people wanted the boxes and were concerned what condition the box was in.

    YMMV

I can say from personal experience, at least, that there ARE some people who are box enthusiasts. Can second boomer's statement. But it might also depend on the figure you're selling, too.

I've lost some sales because I didnt have the box, but I've also lost sales because the shipping cost with the box is too high.

Well, with the box at least you could offer to send it without the box!

I'd never buy a figure w/o the box because it's reasonable to assume the figure was more heavily used and it increases the risk it may be damaged during shipping. But then I pretty much only buy new/MISB so I'm not the market for used products, KOs, and other budget-oriented sales.

I keep all the boxes for potential resale in the future. They are designed to safely ship the product and often look nice. I'd love to not have to store them all but given the increasing frequency of repaints and replacements for figures I already have, it is becoming more likely I'll have some to sell.

I like boxes, the art/design is kinda cool... but then I bought the Transformers toy art coffee book.

But really, it's the plastic and foam inserts that screw me on room. I'd just untape/unfold them all and keep them somewhere if my OCD didn't force me to tetris a whole closet with insert filled boxes.

I have always kept boxes for resale purposes but lately space has become limited.

I made the decision yesterday to get rid of all KO (i.e. Takasa Tony, WJ) boxes. That made a decent dent. Enough to consolidate some space.

As a seller I make sure to account for box or no box in my price.
As a buyer I don't care about the box actually. To save on both the figure and the shipping.

I still have all the boxes except the ones from Hasbro / Takara legend figures (Combiner Wars, Titans Return, POTP and Siege). Haven't sold any of my figures yet. Store them in my basement in moving boxes and at the moment have enough space. But because I don't display them I have considered throwing them away except a few that have really good art.

Sam here. I store my boxes on a large shelf in my garage. The only drawback is my wife will take pictures every few months and says, "enough toys!".

They often want free shipping which for me is a no go. I'm not a frigging store to offer such things (and honestly, I don't know why any of these smaller shops offer it in the first place given how much it must cut into their profits).

Boxes tend to get beat up over time. To get one with its box still intact is nice. Also, it adds weight and bulk concerning shipping costs. It's not uncommon for higher rates for figs including their original boxes.

Lol, resale. I don't buy anything with the thought of "resale" in my head save real estate. This is a hobby about toys, it's not an investment.

I don’t buy it planning to sell it. But like pruning a bush, a collection needs curated or it becomes over grown.

I think resale value of boxes depends on the figure and the buyers motivation.... so it’s a case by case situation. Tfc prometheous, fansproject, or hasbro sunstorm and acid storm (which I have up for sale right now pm me) or ko’s... who cares about the box. Fanstoys insecticons, Takara stuff...those you get more for boxed.

So the question becomes what’s the value of the real estate the box is taking up during storage and how much more expensive does shipping become.

I cut down my box collection last year then this year have sold some of those figures (sunstorm/acid storm holla at your boy I got the fam price) I would guess I’m down at most $30-40. I honestly think I would have listed it as boxed price, not had it sell, then reduced the prices to move it and paid more on the shipping.

I love my boxes and i still have alot (90%) of my boxes. I have all my cardbacks from my figures years ago during the T-30,generation and other lines. Now on my Siege i have every box from my figures i have. I'm probably not going to get rid of them cause i love the art work on the boxes.

I forgot to add, my wife won't let me throw away the boxes because she wants them to "resell your stuff when you die" o_O
