I think he has the strongest alt mode and maybe the best robot mode of the three so far, but is the weakest weaponizer. As someone above remarked, some of his parts don’t really become weapons or cool looking accessories in an intuitive way. Maybe that’ll change as the roster of Decepticons expands.

People were saying he was better than Sixgun. Some that even run podcasts. to that I say WTF, I mean hes fun and neat but Sixgun is far and away the best weaponizer. Sixgun's alt mode is okay, but he he excells mightily at being a weaponizer and his bot mode is beyond steller.

Don't get me wrong, I like this guy. I think you have to approach him as a BFG Weaponizer. He has two BFGs that he can create.

Brunt is a neat figure, but I would personally rank Sixgun higher than Brunt.

Both Sixgun and Brunt has good looking robot and alt mode but in terms of module part compatibility, Brunt's parts is on the limited side as most of his parts didn't really look like anything in an intuitive way.

I disagree about Sixgun having a good alt mode. Also, I find his bot mode to be just “decent”. For me Brunt crushes in bot mode and his alt mode while also compromised, it leagues better than either of the other two weaponizers. IMHO.

Wait how is his alt mode compromised exactly? Brand's alt mode is pretty Frickin close to his G1 form, and he didnt even have a robot mode back then.

I picked up a Brunt... I'm eventually going to paint this guy up and and use his parts as part of my Shockwave/Longarm Prime custom. He was literally bought specifically for that purpose but before I customize him I wanted to take a quick look at the figure as he comes originally.

I find he's surprisingly possible for a guy who's designed to come apart. It's not just the "you can rotate on the peg" kinda articulation that's really kinda unintentional articulation. Like this guy actually has knees... Considering his legs come apart at the knee I would almost expect his legs to be static but no the peg itself is on a hing joint that is intentionally designed to give the figure proper knees. If you bend the knees back too far it'll actually cause the leg to pop off that peg which also seems to be intentional as I'm pretty sure if they didn't do this then it would break the peg to bend the leg so far back. Having the leg just slid off prevents that from happening as the leg would just fall off the peg before you could apply any potentially damaging pressure to it.

The way he comes packaged almost seems like he has no elbows. The arms actually extend a little bit to give him that room for an elbow bend. It is one of those bicep curling elbows though. No wrists as he doesn't even have proper hands. Bicep rotation. The shoulders have two separate joints. The outward joint is a dedicated articulation joint while the forward back joint makes use of one of those pegs where the figure is designed come apart. Waist rotation which is also a peg. Hips rotate forward and back on a peg which is NOT designed to come apart, this is a dedication articulation hinge which kinda looks like a peg but is not intended to act as a peg. They rotate out and can do the splits on another hinge. There's rotation which is not hindered at all by the molding of the treads that sticks up over that hinge. I've seen a lot of figures with molding like this that usually tends to hinder or prevent that joint from working at all so it's really quite impressive that this joint actually works. Ankle tilts which I think is more for transformation but it's there if you want it.

The head is on a swivel and I saved this for last because I really want to talk about that head sculpt. Does anyone besides me see a purple Cylon?

It doesn't have that head crest and the eye wraps all the way around the head but that mouth plate is EXACTLY the same. Not so much the new Cylons as their mouth plates have been made a lot thiner and the eye is now more of a V shape than the straight line but I swear this dude looks like a Cylon. I want to show this to my dad and see what he says. He's the actual fan of this series and the only reason I even know what a Cylon is cause I've never actually seen that series.

Anyway my only real complaint about the robot mode is that there's not really any good way to use the gun. You can put it up behind his shoulder but there's no way to mount it pointing forward. He can only shoot straight up on their air or has to bend over to point it forward. There should be another peg hole on top of his shoulder or a joint here to allow that gun to be posed over his shoulder. He can also "hold" the gun. I say "hold" because the peg hole is so far up his arm that it's not a convincing way of holding the gun. Who holds a gun with their elbow? You can also just put it in his claw. It fits and he can actually grip it the only problem is that the shape of his claw prevents him from holding it straight. So it works if you don't mind him holding his gun a little bit crooked.

Partsformation! Yeah I'm not saying Transformation for this one seeing as how it's a parts former. I wouldn't mind that if it was ONLY for the Weaponizer gimmick. That makes sense but having to take the figure apart just to go from a robot to a tank makes no sense. I wish it actually transformed proper.

And some how even while cheating to transform it's still very clear what parts of the vehicle are robot parts. There are wheels but there's nothing that locks the joints of the figure so it can be a bit difficult to line things up properly. Those ankle tilts seem to actually be a hindrance in this mode. The cannon on mine seems to be sitting slightly crooked. Not enough to really notice unless you have it in hand and are looking over the figure for a review like I'm doing right now but yeah it's not sitting straight. One of those ankle joints refuses to sit flat and it's causing an slight bend to the cannon. The turret does rotate and moves up and down... though it's kinda acting like a faux ratchet joint as it only seems to want to hold a position either pointing straight forward or up as high as it can go. Every point in between doesn't feel like it wants to stay there.

Now the instructions shows a couple ways you can weaponize other figures. It's using Reflector as the example but I don't have Reflector... Actually the only Seige figure I do have is my Custom Shockwave so I'm just going to take his armor off and attach Brunt.

Note it is kinda difficult getting the turret pannel on and off of the hips. Getting it on is just hard to line up the pegs but at least on my copy that's a very tight connection so it was even worse getting it back off.

So first of all we have what the instructions call the demolition load out. Out of the two modes in the instructions I like this one better. Though the instructions aren't clear about what to do with the arms. There's an overly complicated set of steps going from tank mode to this mode... at least that's what it looks like... but there should really only be one step which involves rotating the shoulders back to how they would be for robot mode. The instructions however for some reasons also tell you to extend the arm only to then collapse it back the way it was in the first place which is totally unnecessary. There's plenty of room for that joint to rotate without extending the arm, that extension is only for the elbow but you're bending the shoulder.

There's also pictures that make it look like there were other rotations not shown so it's a little unclear as to exactly how those shoulders are meant to be.

Anyway the fact that Shockwave now has an arm mounded orange cannon makes me want to call this the Galvatron cosplay mode.

And then we have what the instructions call the Serpentine Loadout. This is the silliest looking of the two modes and it's not just that it looks dumb it's also functionally a really terrible use of the parts.

In the other mode there parts were more evenly distributed so the figure could still stand on his own. However in this mode he's now got the weight of an entire robot just sitting on his back. Shockwave now has to lean forward in order to stand up or needs to be propped up against something overwise Brunt will make him fall backwards. The added arms this mode gives him don't seem very functional either as they can't reach very far. It might work better with a figure who doesn't have suck a large back pack to begin with then maybe those arms could actually do something but because of Shockwave's original back pack they end up sitting too far back to ever be useful in this mode.

One of the arms also has a very loose connection in this mode so any time I try to pose them it falls off. The right arm works fine it's only the left arm that wants to fall off. And this is really the only time I've had a problem with any loose connections so this is probably a QC issue that may very from one copy to another.

Anyway... I did some more testing and it seems Brunt isn't even going to work the way I had originally intended him to. Though that gun does now provide a handle so Shockwave can hold the cannon I removed from Tankor so that part works out how I wanted. It's a little loose but it works well enough.

Since all of the Weaponizers are designed to break apart to form weapons and have to do so for transformation into alt mode, I don't think this is a legitimate complaint. I think it's excusable considering how much engineering would be required to make a figure that can both break apart into weapons and transform conventionally.

Got my Brunt 3 times, in his various modes and the whole cabinet of my Trypticon collection. I think he is awesome. I used one bot integrate in the city and battle-station mode of Trypticon. Working very well. See more pics of my Trypticon Collection by Godert Walter

Got my $15 stand-alone Brunt from Amazon.

He's pretty much exactly what I thought he would be from reading this thread-- an okay tank, an okay figure, and a terrible set of weapons. I'm completely at a loss at how to load out anyone with this guy other than saddling the easy double cannon like everyone else (and heck anyone knows what to do with the turret piece).

Would've been even more disappointed if I paid full price for him.

Are you new here? We've had multiple figures over the past 30+ years that actually transformed and broke apart for some some sort of gimmick. It is a legitimate complaint considering that's exactly what they had been doing for YEARS before the Siege toy line and those figures were also cheaper than this one was.

Energon Wing Saber for example breaks apart to combine with Optimus. However Wing Saber himself can transform from vehicle to robot mode without taking the figure apart. You only need to disassemble him for the combined mode.

Heck even RID1 Ultra Magnus... while it's recommended to removed his legs for transformation, it is actually possible to leave them attached. The figure again... comes apart for combined form.

They have always done it that way where a figure could transform on it's own conventionally and only needed to be taken apart if it had a combined mode with another figure. This is the first time since G1 that a figure needed to be taken apart just to go from vehicle to robot mode. I think it was excusable for the G1 toy line cause most of those figures were repurposed from other toy lines and had very simply engineering. But there's no excuse for that level of engineering in a modern toy line.

I'm not new here, and nah, it's not really a legitimate complaint considering the size class of the weaponizers. I'm willing to let it slide if the figures in question are Deluxe sized smaller ones, unlike the figures you mention which are larger and therefore have more allowance for more advanced engineering. Considering rising costs, I daresay it's fine to have those figure partsform for transformation, unless you want to have more expensive Deluxes that such engineering would likely result in?

were you around in the 70's and the 80's? I was. :)  Japanese robots of all types would break a part to form all sorts of things. Diaclone for example. micronauts and microman are other examples. and those weren't and still aren't exactly cheap.

I can go on if you like. :D

    So, anyway back on topic...

On to Brunt. To be honest I hate his robot mode especially since Brunt never had one and was more or less always a Drone. so my Brunt pretty much stays a Tank. :)  and I have all 3 of the Siege bots that break apart into weapons and such. I honestly don't care for that feature. Mine all stay as they should be. I honestly don't mind that they are parts formers at all seeming as that's what they always were in the G1 Toyline. :)

Yeah, but Energon Wing Saber and RiD Magnus are gigantic bricks.

A very solid point. Most of the bots that would break apart and become armor or multiple weapons tended to be just transforming bricks.

Personally I see no reason to complain about "partsforming" at this stage unless you are incredibly prone to losing parts. We all knew what was coming ever since Cog was showcased. Now you either buy one and appreciate what they are or skip this generation and go third party (though most third party Sixguns also "partsform" from what I've seen, but that's also been a few years). You can still complain of course, it's a free internet. I just don't see why personally, but that is just me.

Either way, let's not doubt anyones legitimacy here on the board, we all love robots. That's the important thing here. We are free to poo poo on designs we don't like but let's not aim the diatribe at each other.

He is cool SuperHanz. I've been considering getting him for myself, because he reminds me of the robots from Battlestar Galactice. And there's nothing wrong with your pictures.

    This one's my favorite.

    They're already more expensive.

Oh and I believe one of the Energon Deluxes split in half for combined mode. This was also unusual for the line as most of the others folded in half but this one actually split and thus was the only figure able to form the top half of one combination and bottom half of another at the same time. And he transforms from vehicle to robot without splitting him in half.

Being a smaller figure really makes zero difference. At least not at a Deluxe size class anyway. Maybe if it were even smaller than that but I don't see Hasbro making anything smaller that would ever come apart at all... at least not intentionally.

You don't have to agree with me. If you don't care about parts forming that's your opinion. Just because you don't agree with something doesn't mean it's not a legitimate complaint. The only thing that would make it not legitimate is if I was complaining about something that had never been done before or wasn't intended for the figure to ever be able to do in the first place neither of which applies here.

Energon towline has to split to go from vehicle to robot. I mean...I guess technically you can do it without if you count this as his proper robot mode....

I agree with you that its a "legitimate complaint" but it's still based entirely on your preferences. I don't think its something objectively wrong with the figure.
