How is this series holding up so far?

Great news, I am very interested in this series and I might purchase all numbers.

I'm enjoying this series, but I don't really follow IDW's Ghostbusters, so why is the Vigo painting hanging up in the firehouse?

 

I think that goes back to the 2009 video game where they established it's just been sitting out in the main hall ever since they defeated Vigo, occasionally mouthing off to the Ghostbusters out of spite.

 

I never liked that, I preferred thinking it stayed with the angelic Ghostbusters alteration, but It's nothing to throw a stink about. That game's awesome, so glad to see it get a shout-out.

 

Pretty much. He’s actually shown up a couple times in the comics and battled the ghostbusters.

After 2 issues now the only question I have anymore is : okay they’re pretty much just using the original G1 cartoon look and background for the transformers, shouldn’t these be The Real Ghostbusters then if one is using the cartoon esthetic?

The artist can do that style. He’s drawn TRG a lot or he’s using a lot of stills from the cartoon as reference which wouldn’t put past him coz it kinda feels like he’s doing that a little with the transformers

 

It is kind of weird after the Star Trek crossover specifically used the old cartoon for those characters. My guess is that they couldn't use TRG for this for some reason or they just decided that they wanted this to be canon with their regular Ghostbusters stories.

 

I guess using the live-action Transformers would be out of the question since part of this is promoting the Ectotron toy.

 

Why is Vigo\'s painting there?  At the end of the film, it transformed into the Ghostbusters et al, right?

 

No that was a stylistic choice. They wanted to use both cartoon styles because both were cartoons. They wanted to capture the camp to both in ways. That’s why I think they probably shoulda used the real ghostbusters for this.

The real ghostbusters have shown up numerous times in IDWs comics. They even had their own series and have been involved in crossovers

That’s the weird ass thing with IDW ghostbusters. All the crossovers are in continuity! The infestation ones, X-files, TMNT etc. I stopped reading the GB comics about 4 years ago because I’m just not big on what the creative team was doing(take a hint folks! If you don’t like something you don’t need to bitch about it online all the time. just stop reading it and giving it you attention!). I have been going back lately and catching up and there’s a flash back with Mondo Gecko and I was so confused.

why can the artist not draw ectotron to save his life? like, everyone else is fine, but ectotron gets broader with every panel. is he working out in between scenes??

 

True? I didn't notice that.

 

Starscream/Venkman is fun, Janine and Egon sound like them from the bit there and Optimus' "Oh Thank Primus" is straight out a certain dub, I love it. Can't wait for him to suddenly become profanity-filled in the climax.
