MPM Ratchet is coming out (or at the very least will be announced) next year, and we already have had 5 shots at an MPM starscream.

 

LT hasn't got much experience outside adjusting existing designs, I'd trust this more with the likes of Black Mamba or Wei Jiang

 

They / He / She could add the mechanism to the design, since it is "self contained" and could be transferred to any OP's figure.

 

Looks like they made sacrifices go the truck mode. The windows are too small/short, and the truck nose too long.

And how does that conflict with this Optimus design?

 

Because instead of making another Optimus if this even gets released they could be doing other characters

 

The distinction between mainline and Masterpiece, is that MPM aims for quality, not quantity. If you just wanted to fill out the movie cast, I'd recommend getting Studio Series, or the like.

I'd much rather have 10 perfect figures than 20 meh-tier figures.

 

Yeah and we have enough quality Optimus Primes and we need higher quality figures for other characters not cheap Hasbro deluxes I don’t want studio series instead can we at least get a complete masterpiece movie 1 cast is that too much to ask?

 

Looks great but enough with the primes already. You get one, a slightly better one comes, you get that, then a slightly better one comes out, you get THAT...and repeat forever.

Time to break the cycle.

 

Most of the Movie Optimus we've gotten are either KO's of the MPM4 or Knight versions, neither of them were an actual attempt as this, it's defintiely not a "sightly" different one.

Then again, doing new versions of characters such as ratchet or sideswipe is kind of risk because Hasbro (be bad, mediocre or decent) could be doing them anyway, not to mention, a lot of "3P" movie figures are enhanced (KOs) versions of the official ones, and they wait until Hasbro releases them to do the same.

The guy behind the design it's clearly doing this for fun, knowing there's a lack of 3P designs these times (such as FansToys playing with renders, Toyworld and such), i'm sure it'll be picked up ASAP.

 

Looking closely at the 3D model, I have noticed a couple of things:

The red rear wheel wells end up inside the torso with the red pieces on the back coming from the fifth wheel (trailer hitch). This being the case, there'll be noticeable red in vehicle mode. In addition, there are a couple more sacrifices in terms of the vehicle mode and the transformation as well. For instance, the hood pieces do not actually become the forearm guards but instead look to end up on the back of the forearm. There are a number of bumps and dents on the side of the sleeper cabin and side doors that are there purely for the robot mode.

But yes, the removal of the matrix chamber frees up so much room in the torso, it's insane.

 

Man, this ship has sailed. I cannot think of a ship that has sailed farther than this one has.

We don't need another take on 1st trilogy Optimus. Black Apple's is more accurate and detailed than should ever have been reasonably possible. And this render is so preliminary it's prety much useless speculating on how the final product would turn out.

Give us any character that still needs an accurate figure, 3rd parties. (And start with Sentinel Prime please.)

 

I would be surprised if he stills include a matrix chamber.

 

I prefer it to be picked up by DF instead, I want a sturdy toy!

 

Given there are more mpm primes than there are in studio series, studio series by your logic,is the more quality line.

This could be the best movie prime ever designed and I would 100% buy at least 1 copy

If this is coming from a new company or designer, it’s understandable if they do an Optimus. Most 3Ps start off by selling A-List characters to have enough people interested in their future products. It’s more risky to invest time and money to produce an original design for something a little obscure.

I’ll be cautiously optimistic about this one. As some have pointed out, we don’t even know if this will reach production or if it’s even intended too. Though with the amount of effort being put in I’d imagine so. The base structure is still getting reworked, so who knows if some of this will make it to the physical model.
