He's a very nice solid figure all the way around. Definite 9.0 out of 10.0 overall. He's heavy. Lots of diecast metal. Pretty much an entire diecast metal frame/skeleton holding him all together. Colors look killer in person. He's not white... he's a very light grey metallic. He's sparkly close up. Red is deep and rich. Yellow is also a sparkle metallic and looks 100 times better in person. No American cheese thighs. Lol. Face sculpt is perfect. And you get a total of 3 different faces to choose from. Hands are little small/thin/dainty... but sturdy.

Construction, design, and engineering is pretty ingenious. You get a faithful toon accurate looking SilverBolt... with solid, sturdy bot and jet modes. Great engineering and design. 10/10 here.

Pose-ability and articulation... 8/10... but this is mainly due to the form of the original G1 figure himself and being a combiner on top of that. He's not going to be Mr. Personality in front of the camera. He has a metal skeleton... literally!

Kicks the snot out of Zeta's SilverArrow. Not even close. Glad I sold mine.

You do need to adjust the shoulder joints and tab in the knees out of the box. With the shoulders you are sort of building the surrounding red armor around the shoulder. And pegging in the red bits under the arm. Then just push the shoulders towards the body. There is a folded down tab behind the knee that you need to flip out and tab in to secure the knees. See RFC Reviews (aka member Diecast) video review starting at about 18:20.

Better than RoadKing???... close... but RK is a touch bit better in all categories. Definite must buy from me. Another home run hit from the boys at FansToys!!! Excellent work!

Same here. I just paid my preorder balance with Darkmount for Maverick. So far the cost is $107 USD before shipping. He says he'll ship my order out within the next 24 hours.

I keep seeing these 3p Primes next to these guys and they look so good. I might have to skip on the pricey MP.

I'm with you, he's a great figure. I'd argue his alt mode is better than Road King. It's a lot cleaner looking than RK's trailer ends up being. I just think RK wins in bot mode. I also found the transformation quite intuitive on Maverick, once I got him to alt, going back was a breeze without any need for reference.
As for it being a step back, I don't think I'd use that term - it's not like these are the easiest things to design and there is no perfect representation out there. I think if the arm articulation was figured out and a bit more waist movement - this would be right on par with RK. I can forgive no ab crunch.

I was under the impression that he would slot into a chest piece like zeta's does, do you think differently? I could be completely wrong of course, the renders give almost nothing away about how he fits into combined mode except the front of the plane being behind superions head and what I've been assuming is his knees showing on his back.

C’mon! Have you seen the renders of Ethereaon on page 1? How do you think it will work?

Here you can see Mav’s knees have been folded up behind the torso, even the very tip of his nose cone...

My seller did send it to me.
But it got lost when shipping.
He's asking for new ones again.

And Mav, shipping cost 12 english pounds.
So i wait till they have 3 of the figures i've ordered before i let them ship it.

So I was unable to wait for this guy and had him shipped from my residence to the hotel. Absolutely gorgeous figure. Will probably transform him over the weekend when i have more time.
Like others have used I'm mostly fine with the articulation but the elbows bother me the most.
It's amazing how much better the gold parts in hand than in pictures.
I find it amazing just how flat his profile is in hand. It's nothing bad just different.

Loving the FT combiner bots so far.

Transformed him back and forth last night. I like Roadking better, but this is still a good figure. Continues the trend of FT addressing the issue of their unfun transformations and making improvements in that area. It's impressive how easy and intuitive Maverick's engineering is despite him basically exploding into what appears to be a chaotic mess. Hinging the body of the jet together was the "masterpiece moment" for me. I didn't have the loose bit problem on the red pieces that some have reported, but I did have some trouble getting everything with the arms tabbed into the wings. Red tab kept wanting to pop out on one side for me. Probably was user error.

Overall, I like him. The finish is beautiful. I'm assuming sacrifices were made in regards to articulation, sculpt, and proportions for the clever engineering, and that's an unfortunate but acceptable trade off for me. I have high hopes for the rest of the team now that it seems evident that Roadking wasn't a fluke.

Would say that you're right about the alt-mode looking cleaner, but would also say that a big part of that Maverick just has fewer panels so looks cleaner by default. What's impressive about RoadKing is that you look at him and there don't seem to be many trailer parts on the bot other than a fairly small backpack (given the size of the figure). Then you start doing the transformation and trailer parts start coming out of everywhere and you get this huge box.

Maverick kinda does the opposite, where there's very little visible bot on the alt besides being able to see the thighs from the bottom. Then the bot pieces start appearing and while there's some obvious plane parts on the backpack, it doesn't look like there's a foot and a half of plane hanging off of him.

But the "step back" I was talking about was mostly based on the articulation. The lack of elbow bend, more limited shoulder motion, no knee rotation, more limited knee bend and more limited ankle rocket (and the ab crunch) means his posability is more limited. It's not bad per se, but if we started with Maverick and then went RoadKing we'd go from "this is pretty good I hope they keep it up... oh hey this is awesome!", but the release order we got was "oh hey this is pretty awesome, I hope the next one is as good... well it's still very nice but the last one was kinda nicer".

I also wish his arms were a smidge longer as they're notably shorter than RK's. It's not particularly important, but I like when you can do some cross body poses.

They will scale most closely with TW Constructor, Zeta's combiners, and FT-20.
