I'm not sure but what I think happened was there was a rumor that there was going to be a titan class figure reviled at sdcc and a lot of people thought that ment Hasbro would show off a scorpnok figure but instead Hasbro showed off a crowd funded titan class unicron figure. I think the confusion came because the unicron figure was actully shown off a few days before sdcc and a few days before the rumor really got going so people were thinking there was something else coming besides unicron.
NYCC is coming, too, plus 2020 Toy Fair isn't *that* far away, really. We're already coming into Fall, soon, and Winter isn't that far behind. Not to mention other leaks and reveals.
Titans are typically revealed at New York toy fair. Preceeded by a hint at New York Comic con. Usually a smaller part of the toy like Trypticon's leg or Predaking's wings. Sdcc was a big disappointment this year.
Actually this is what happened: There are at least 3 people on these boards that know what the actual Titan figure is for WFC part 2 Given that SDCC was a week or so away, a few people that knew, started to give hints, thinking that the Titan, as well as a new Leader and new Commander, would be revealed at SDCC The week of SDCC, Unicron was revealed via media articles. Did the aforementioned 3 know about it? Possibly, but given that Unicron is a crowdfunded item, there's also a possibility that they didn't know(unlikely though since 1 of the 3 was very likely to know) To play it safe and keep from being disappointed, don't expect full confirmation until Toy Fair next year. It's likely we will at least get a hint by NYCC.
The past couple of Titan reveals have been a bit weird, since Predaking was leaked (along with basically the entire PotP line) right before SDCC. The next year I'm pretty sure rumors started about Omega Supreme at least a month before NYCC, where Titans are usually teased with the design team bringing a single part of the resin prototype, so I bet we'll start hearing rumblings around September sometime.
