Is Ironhide really grumpy?

 

I think so. I would say that he was Kup before Kup was Kup.

 

Man, I wish they would've continued to allow non-aircraft autobots to fly on their own. Stunticons can fly but carbots can't. Not fair.

 

never understood that since the Autobots could fly in the first few episodes then magically they lost that ability.

 

Right. After that non-aircraft Autobots couldn't fly without the aid of jetpacks or some other mode of aerial transportation.
Suddenly in Transformers the Movie, the Dinobots (besides just Swoop) were able to fly again.

 

In the movie, I think they mean for it to appear that the Dinobots are gliding toward Devastator in that one scene as they all have "wings" of a sort.

As soon as they transform into dinos, they plummet down. Maybe that's why Snarl didn't participate in that fight--he looked less like he could fly in bot-mode?

The Dinobots, besides Swoop were not flying. They jumped off the ship towards Devastator.

 

Nah, they were flying.
They were not directly above Devastator to jump towards him. They dropped from the ship and flew towards Devastator.

They flew again here.

 

I’d say they glided towards Devy and in space anyone can fly!

Having said that the whole fly/can’t fly thing is wildly inconsistent!

LET THEM ALL FLY!

 

Given their size and weight, I highly doubt they could glide like that. In space anyone can float aimlessly but not everyone can fly.

 

And no one can hear you scream at the futility of a “discussion” on the internet!

you are trying to bring real life into a cartoon about transforming dinosaurs. hell, they can mass shift, I'm sure they could fly, glide, or float. after all, how can Megatron fly with no visible means of propulsion?

 

The Dinobots were routinely depicted as being able to fly in bot mode.

 

Yeah, I think they all flew out to Dinobot island.
At that point, no Autobot flew.
Kinda makes ya wonder. "Hi, my name's Wheeljack, and I just created life in my laboratory!"

So, you made engines of total mindless destruction, and then made sure they are super mobile and cannot be contained?

It was mainly a reference to the film title, Grumpy Old Men. I would totally dig a movie starring Ironhide and Kup together!
