I just visited TheFwoosh forums and peeps there really made a dedicated thread for the half-assed Cannonball figure. But yeah, I share the frustrations and understands it. Cannonball will be remembered as the figure who got compromised due to Hasbro team's "creative" take on the character. It would've been better if Cannonball's blast effect was longer and articulated like 3 joints. Or if Hasbro team just answered it honestly on SDCC that Cannonball is just a the victim of "Budget Restraints" in order for Mr.Sinister to be made. anyway.. here's his X-men Card and if there's a way to "fix" him in the future, it's gonna be under a 2-pack with another X-Force member or via the X-Men Retro Wave..
I'm going to try and put Cannonball on a tamashii stand in the back of my display. At an angle, a couple inches off the ground he might look pretty cool. Of course I would have rather had legs.
If anyone is getting the Juggernaut vs Colossus 2-pack and doesn't want the Colossus out of the set, please send me a PM. I'd be willing to buy and/or trade heavily in your favor.
My SDCC Crushed Pipe! (And Green Accessory) is on its way. So I'll have this before the Hulk/Wolvie pack which feels odd.
Let's be honest, Hasbro knows what they're doing. The only budget restraint they may have faced was releasing Cannonball with swappable parts to switch between legs and the blast effect. It would have been just as easy to release a whole figure (sculpting new boots or lower legs would have been just as easy as sculpting this blast-off effect). This way, they can force collectors who are "disappointed" (mwah hah hah) to double-dip with a Cannonball who only has the flying effect. Cue evil corporate board room laugh
Who would be a popular member of X-Force that could come in a Deluxe "Archangel" offering that could include CB legs? A BAF sized Warpath maybe?
Found Nightcrawler and Thor at Target. Picked them up, and will come back when they sort out their toy back stock. (For Iron Man)
A Complete Cannonball and Warpath set could work. And a new warpath would be a good base for x-force warpath or classic thunderbird. Or maybe Feral, Rictor, or classic Domino. I wonder, since they’re making a new mutant three pack of Dani, Karma, and Wolfsbane, will they make a two pack of Cannonball and Sunspot. Sunspot could just be a hand and headswap with a fully energized exclusive released later on.
In terms of members we don't have yet, a large Warpath makes the most sense. Beyond that, I wonder if a tricked out Cable, as much as it might annoy some of us, would be the most likely option Hasbro would take. A bunch of multiple heads, tons of guns, swappable vests and other gear to recognize his first appearance look, pouched-up look, 90s blue/yellow, etc. Other X-Force related bits could be thrown in too, if necessary, to pad it out (extra heads, like for any iteration of Deadpool, or Shatterstar; maybe even a Copycat head for Domino). The other, lazier, kinda-sorta connected option, is Archangel gets redecoed in X-Force black/silver and Cannonball's legs get tossed in there, 'cuz "X-Force."
If a 2 pack is the way they go for a Cannonball redo, then for me personally I'd like the other fig in the pack to be his sister, Husk. Probably the only shot she'd get at a fig.
Congrats man! Can’t wait to get mine along with Storm and Ice Man...then my X-men collection is complete! They’re amazing figures! For Colossus, the yellow portion is the problematic area if one is particular about paint job. Nice picture! IMO Spidey has always been “bigger” than Iron Man until the MCU. If Marvel didn’t go bust in the 90s (?) and didn’t have to lend out their movie rights to the different studios...the MCU would be very different.
If Marvel had Spider-Man and the X-Men from the start there wouldn't be an Iron Man movie, let alone 3.
I may try this, but since I'm 100% sure we'll be getting a version with legs down the road I may still just pass on him. They more or less implied that we would see another release and strongly hinted that including legs and the blast effect wouldn't be a big deal in the future. My guess is because, now that the blast effect is tooled, it won't have the new tooling expense attached to it in the future (which is to my understanding the most expensive part of these figures).
