I was kinda down on this thing because of the length of time to get it. My wife (and BSF also in his video) raised a good point. This is Hasbro so it's not like they're going anywhere and stealing your money. *shrugs*

The robot mode is good but the planet mode is the star of the show for me so yeah...I'm gonna get one. Even my wife said "Go ahead and order it. It's hardly expensive compared to what some 3rd party stuff costs you. Besides, if it makes you feel better, we can just say it's mine :p "

I'll back / order one tonight after work.

    Incorrect.
They had the exact same wording for the Sail Barge and people most certainly ordered multiple orders of 5 and they were all filled.

It’s not semantics, it pretty clearly says 5 per transaction.

    I'll pick the hat.
But seriously though, I agree with most of what you said. I think jealousy plays a pretty big part of this.

Also, if credit cards have to be called into question to pay for this figure. Then, this figure is DEFINITELY NOT made for you. Don't put the burden of credit card debt onto your family or partner, just because you want a toy. That just ain't smart.

Seriously, this logic is simply flawed.

First of all, you're still paying $155 immediately, so we're only talking about $420 (plus tax, at least on Hasbro Pulse) that you wouldn't have to pay right now (that is, at the end of August).

But you're paying an additional $200 to BBTS for the privilege of waiting.

Seriously, if you're in the US, just use a credit card on Pulse. Unless your interest rate is really bad, or you're really irresponsible about paying it off, you're paying way less than that extra $200 for the privilege of waiting to hand over your money.

(If you're not in the US, none of this applies to you)

Yeah, you’re definitely not wrong. I took averages on APR and totaled the interest making minimum payments of $35 ... interest would only be about $85 in total. I emphasize this is generic calculations.

But seriously (not talking to you GB), don’t open a credit card if it’s not going to help you. If you’re opening another line of credit for a toy and it’ll hurt you in the long run, think three times before doing so.

Any word on if the stand is permanently attached and you transform the big guy around it?

It's been said that he can stand in robot mode without it, which seems to indicate that it's removable.

The stand is not permanently attached, John Warden mentions this in a video, he can stand fine without it in robot mode and has rocker ankles. But if you want to pose him in more extreme stances then the stand can help with that.

EDIT: Here's the video, he talks about that at about the 2:00 mark

Oh shit....that is one big hat. Probably tastes like shredded mini wheats cereal, without the delicious icing side.

Come on people, let's hit 8000! I do NOT want to eat that hat!

Damn, when this thing was announced I said I was expecting prices up to $900 with shipping and customs...how wrong I was. From BBTS it's about $1600 shipped to Italy. If all the options end up around this price, I think I'm out.

Ok, so I don’t have time right this moment to read through all 175 pages of this so I’ll just ask and hope...

I really want to back this project but I live in the UK, and you can only make a Pulse account in the U.S, so am I just S.O.L?

Actually, doing an order through BBTS would seem entirely viable for you. Be sure to check what shipping to the UK is likely to cost, though.

(The link's buried on a previous page, but if you just search for "Unicron" at BBTS, I'm sure you'll find the pre-order)

I know Hasbro was trying to get the barge out to folks overseas using eBay. I am wondering if they might do the same with this.

They could. Or I should say, those divisions could. I think the problem is a lack of an outlet for it. Do those divisions have a collector's focussed outlet like Pulse of TTMall to handle this? It is unfortunate, but outside of the few like they did for the Barge I don't see it being generally open unless those divisions have such. If they partnered with a retailer that would shoot costs up even more. Honestly, I'm surprised how little BBTS is charging. I expected at least +$300 but I suppose with the shipping charge they are setting themselves up more like a reshipper than a retailer.

Dafug is a "special tax"? Yeah, you're special! Here's another seven-tenths of a cent we'll charge you.

That is their label for anything that isn't state or city tax. Usually it is county or a special tax district (like a new housing development finding a bunch if new infrastructure).

Spoke to a BBTS rep. You put a $155.00 deposit. If it's not funded, you will get refunded. If it is, you won't have to pay the rest until Unicron enters their warehouse a year and a half from now. Looks like BBTS will be ordering this guy in numbers.
