    It's an alternative timeline though.

So Data is back with the B4 body from Nemesis - I wonder if the 2009 comic for ST 2009 which was cannon, in which Data was the Captain of The "E" after Picard, will somehow factor into this.

Also think the series might take heavy inspiration from the BSG reboot from some of the things shown in the trailer.

Seeing the Romulans apparently have captured a Borg Cube, and look to be experimenting with its technology in the trailer.... It's looking to me like they're setting things up to line up with that comic.

I'm aware of that. I'm aware of what happens in the Countdown comic as well. You can't assume that what happens in the comic is what is going to happen in the show.

The new trailer looks kind of interesting, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Besides, not going to get an Amazon subscription so I will likely never see it.

Still those annoying new phaser beams: a phaser isn't a laser pulse as in SW, but a long beam connecting target and gun. (Okay, I could accept that because it's the future, but it's the same as in STD and the Abrams movies, so it's either a conscious choice or ignorance).

As for Data appearing, I think it's either an imaginary data (Picard hallucinating), or B4. He seems to be wearing the new yellow uniform, though. What is clear, is that it's not Spiner as he is now (CGI or something). As for the young girl, it's temting to think she's Lal.

What I found most interesting however, was that they clearly referance the events happening in Nemesis. Interesting because CBS may own series Star Trek, movie Star Trek is owned by Paramount. And also because the trailer suggest that Data sacrificing himself for Picard was what set in motion where Picard is now, thereby ignoring the Countdown comic where Data was in command of the Enterprise E, further made clear because 'Data' is wearing yellow and not command red.

This is Paramount/CBS and Bad Robot changing up the premise of the show - bad Robot's contract says 25% of the show has to be different from the main timeline, but now it seems they are making this a direct sequel in some sorts to the Main timeline. Riker will also appear, and he directed 2 episodes. I think the girl that goes to Picard is a Borg Trojan Horse and her 1st mission is to get Locutus back on line.

I don't think the death of Data is what set Picard on his way - Something much much larger in which Picard was a Fleet commander

Apparently the other next gen characters were added in reshoots after the pilot bombed with test audiences and Kurtzman was removed as main show runner and replaced.

Why are there still two topics for this one same show ???

I know. I've seen the video's on YouTube.

However, I don't think all that's entirely correct. First, the Bad Robot deal was between them, Paramount and CBS in order to get merchandide money from the movies, because those rights were with CBS. This isn't a movie and Paramount isn't involved. CBS, the sole owner of the Star Trek tv series and merchandise rights, are ordering this series made. Bad Robot is not involved, but Secret Hiderout is and that's Kurtzman his company, and there should be no reason for the BR/Paramount agreement to limit what CBS is doing now with Secret Hideout.

However, I'm not blind and I can see STD being different without storytelling reason and against canon.

My personal theory (not backed by any evidence, just reasoning) is that STD is 25 percent different because of some deal struck by Moonves with Kurtzman, along the same lines. As long as ST made by Kurtzman is 25 percent different, he gets merchandising revenue, thus him pushing this difference. And not because of some Bad Robot/Paramount/CBS agreement (since two of those parties aren't involved with the series).

But this is just how it appears to me.

Bad robot has nothing to do with the new Trek TV shows. That 25% clause may be in both the contracts for the movies and TV. But they're separate.

I look interested in this. I hope we get to see the aftermath of the Dominion War and what going on with the Cardassian Union, the remnants of the Romulan empire and other events.

Nope. Kurtzman and Secret Hideout =/= Bad Robot. Kurtzman owns Secret Hideout himself. If Bad Robot was involved JJ Abrams and Bad Robot would be listed in the credits, they're not.
