    Movies on TV marathon:

Kong: Skull Island: 8/10 enjoyed Hound, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Nick Fury, Loki, Wreck it Ralph and Captain Marvel running from and fighting Kong and the generic skull monsters.

Godzilla (2017): 3/10 this movie is bad, double bad since i saw king of the monsters before it. wow

Pacific Rim: 5/10 The Kaiju battles are great but all acting from anyone other than Ron Perlman is bad and bland.

    Non-TV movies:

Teen titans: Go to the movies: 7/10 this was funny and fun. like the TV show the jump city background always has something to laugh at. I love properties that can make fun of themselves and this one did that well.

    Alita: Battle Angel - 8/10

I've been looking forward to watching this for a while, it took a long time to be released on digital. I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed it. I thought the characters were very likable. I enjoyed Alita's journey of discovering who she was. But my main enjoyment of the movie was on a visual level. The environments, fights, and cyborgs looked amazing, and the effects (which were extensively used) looked flawless. With the exception of maybe Alita's eyes here or there (which actually weren't as offputting as I was expecting). But it was breathtaking. It's nice to see a modern sci-fi movie that has good design work, not just JJ Abrams-ish holograms and blue lights everywhere. Everything was stylish and fun to look at. There was some fantastic action, which actually had some real grit to it.

My main downside is that the plot was a bit...confusing? There were a lot of faction names and lore being thrown around, and towards the end I kind of got lost on who was trying to do what. I kind of ended up turning my brain off to that, and just focused on the characters. All of that will probably make more sense on a rewatch. Interestingly, that's sort of the same feeling I've gotten while watching some animes. "What's going on?" But as someone who doesn't like anime, the fact that I'm giving something anime-related a score over 6 or 7 stars "for effort" is very high praise.

    Crawl
It was pretty alright. Crawl really rides a fine line between "so crazy it's insane!" and "it's a serious monstergator movie" and I wish it had picked a side. Go balls to the walls nutty or go super realistic. Still fairly entertaining throughout even if the family drama didn't do much for me.

I loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson’s performances, I thought Jon’s narration was hilarious, I thought the direction and editing was fantastic (particularly the use of montage and repetition of certain shots where Jon hits the gym, drives his car, seduces women, etc.), I liked how the movie established everything you need to know about the protagonist in the first ten minutes of the movie, I liked that the movie’s entire message is that media warps our expectations of love, and that too many people fall in love with ideas rather than people...

I could honestly go on for a while. I love this movie and I think it’s very well crafted. If someone doesn’t like it, I let them have their opinion, but I think way too many people dismiss Don Jon as a dumb movie about a guido who’s addicted to porn.

I didn't hate it, but I can't praise it nearly as much as some. I mean, it definitely had the message you're saying it does, but it attempted to hand that message subtly by using exactly what it was railing against as a mechanism to communicate. And unfortunately it came into a world that needs a sledgehammer to the face for the most part in order to understand concepts beyond "bad guys go boom."

The lead characters were both utterly disgusting people, which wouldn't be so bad if not for the plot constantly attempting to walk a tightrope it wasn't qualified to be anywhere near.

I get what it wanted to do, and I did enjoy the performances even if I hated the characters. But for the simple fact so few people understood it, it failed. And I had a hell of a time keeping my interests up when it portrayed exactly the same "love story" I've seen play out a billion different times with a billion other stories, though mostly with the sexes reversed.

Like I said, can't hate it, but also can't get praising it that much. It's a great demo reel for the actors.

    The Thief of Baghdad (1940):
Great acting, especially from Sabu who played Abu who really shined in the movie which is impressive considering the time period when actors of colors weren't made to be main characters instead of white actors.

Compared to the original, a lot of Disney's Aladdin inspirations with the characters can be spotted here. Great special effects for its time, especially the giant spider scene, but storywise I feel I liked the 1924 version better. Not only that movie was longer, but I liked the thief's character development there.

    8/10

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - 5/10

Ooooh boy. When this is being a medieval Guy Ritchie caper flick, its really a lot of fun. When its trying to be a King Arthur epic, its dismal.

    I AM LEGEND: 9/10
I really enjoyed it. The story was great and the little scenes of will Smith and Sam (the dog) just hanging out and doing normal things was another thing I really liked about it. And I enjoy horror and zombie/zombie related things quite a bit, so that helps me to give it such a high rating.

    Muppet Treasure Island:
Amazing! Absolutely love this film! From the moment it began! Tim Curry is by far the best part of this film. But, everything else is just so wonderful, too! Love the songs, and the dialog. Love the humor! Love all the things happening in the background. Fantastic Film. Hadn't seen it in nearly 20 years. Still love it! 9/10. Almost perfect.

Jim should have gone with Tim Curry, as he kept Jim safer than anyone of Kermit's crew did! LOL

    A Muppet Christmas Carol:
Again, had not seen this movie in like 20 years. And, wow do I still love it! Still my favorite version of this story. Micheal Cain's performance is a life defining one. Even though he's interacting with puppets. Yet, this whole film is still being taken seriously. My only real gripe with this film, is Disney censored the film on DVD! I wasn't sure, while watching it. But, I knew there was some things missing about it. So, I tracked the scenes down on You Tube, and sure enough, they censored it! 0/10 for the DVD version, 10/10 for the movie itself!

    The Lion King: 2019.
Maybe I made a mistake watching the muppet movies earlier this week. As, I kept thinking on how much better this film would have been made by Jim Henson instead... LOL The Muppet King. But, the film itself, is pretty much beat for beat, scene for scene the original film. Just, not as good. More censored version of it. Disney took a G rated film, and censored it, into a PG rated film. That's how far Hollywood's gone.

For the most part, it is an okay film. But, if you've seen the original film, it's like watching the original, but less good. With new lines added here and there. And, others completely removed. Some songs have been cut in half. Most of the songs aren't nearly as well done.

CG combined with the stock footage of Neo Geo videos, can sometimes look great. Other times, it's fairly jarring seeing the real animal, interacting, or becoming a CG animal. I can't quite explain it, but it's like they've suddenly become a zombie version of themselves. Speaking of zombies, since they are all supposed to look like real animals, they don't emote at all. Sometimes they talk with their mouths opening, and others they don't. So, it's like they have telepathy. Also, they're all zombies who are dead on the inside, with no emotions.

As it now stands, I hate to say it, but Dumbo, for everything it did... poorly, is the one that is the best of these. At least it did something different in the second half. This, is just The Lion King: Less Good Edition, with more zombies. I think it will keep people entertained enough for a one and done, and then everyone will forget about it in a year, and go back to watching the original.

7 out of 10. It's C movie, at best. Oh, and 10/10 for the Neo Geo footage. That stuff really is spectacular, good stuff!
