I totally disagree: the weathering work by Gunner is extremly different than the cell-shaded style (made by I don't know who). I really can’t understand your reasoning.

As I said pages ago regarding the price, there is a shop where the Old Green is listed for preorder at a bit more than $400. In my opinon it's going to be the best version ever made until now.

What are the differences between the standard green version and the Chrome one? The ones i can tell are the chrome mixer, the red windows and maybe a darker purple(?)

There are so many iterations of this set; I'm gonna just lay back and wait for a good deal on one so I can have another, just in case. To this day this is arguably the most impressive piece in my collection.

Basically yes. Oh, and more QC issues with the chrome version from the posts I have read. TW has just gotten really sloppy on making a quality Devy. They DGAF that is for damn certain.

Depends on which green set you bought. But this is the only version that has that alternative face plate that came with the Yellow version. It also has two drum sets, purple chrome and regular grey. Two sets of leg covers, green and grey. The purple is more lighter or toon than darker. All the chrome accents are a great touch.

Respectfully, we're both right, regarding the paint. The following is a very crude example I threw together that pieces together what I mean. Normally, one would work light to dark when painting, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It looks as if they painted it a base color that is vibrant, and then went in with a light shade on top of it, which was a slightly lighter color than the base. There has also been a mist applied in various areas, likely using a lighter grey or dull white. It's evident in the color gradients. Likely a trigger airbrush making the magic.

Do bear in mind, ShowZ's photos are washed out by the sun light. They're likely way more vibrant in hand.

So here are the guys with the base colors applied in solid sections. The difference with the weathered version is instead of the color patches being solid, one is being applied over the other as a gradient, which is why the color variation is not as bright.

As for weathering, and what I mean by variations of shading, it's all in layers and chipping. Below are the silver thighs I custom painted to match my TW-C07F Dirty Yellow.

    20190316_212016.jpg

I'm curious to see more photos of weathered green. See how much darker the knees are on mine? Dark base, light grey overlay and dirt on the corners. The first shots I saw of TW-C07G showed him with forearms, fists and knees that same darker purple. Now they're weathered versions that look more like the cell shaded colors.

I know someone is listing it for around $400, but I seriously expect this to be way more expensive. I still say $599 to $699. Just my $.02 of speculation. Cheers.

Found the darker version. Interesting that there are two! It makes me wonder if they're doing a weathered green and also a weathered cel-shaded. That would be really cool. Time will tell.

This thing is probably the most expensive combiner ever. Sure, if you buy just one, then it's not the most expensive, but it seems that some people have multiple sets.

That’s why I’ve always liked Jetfire more. He’s a Macross Valkyrie so you know which side he is on.

Yes, those yellow-green areas look like cells. Not the rest in my opinion: the use of layers or shading doesn’t mean there are cells.

Let’s hope for the best about the final product: I don’t like to see that yellow: the Old Green must be green!

Yup. If they go the route of the new test shots I will cancel my order for sure.

    Well, this

    81a4178446.jpg

    Doesn't match this

    610988f9cf.jpg

Both above pics are listed for TW-C07G on the ShowZ website. Those color palettes don't match, yet they're both clearly weathered versions of Constructor. I wasn't trying to say TW-C07G looks like TW-C07A. I'm saying the majority of pics listed for TW-C07G look much more like colors from the palette used on TW-C07A.

I don't remember how many Constructors you own, but if i were you i would keep just the Dirty Yellow and I would confirm the order for the Old Green because the weathering job adds a remarkable value to those models. Whatever their chose will be, I'm sure we are getting a great Constructor.

You can consider the idea of selling some of your non-painted Devastators, for example the one you rightly called "Disco Devy" which looks a bit... (i don't know what adjective to use) ...randy!

    Just my point of view.

LOL! I he is a bit randy. I have 3. The weathered yellow, disco Dev and the original. I do like the weathered green one, but I am not down with the recent test shots. I will wait and see.

Yes, metaphorically I would say it's noisy, too much blatant. I don't like that style.

I agree with you both. It is rather loud. The darker version that was first seen looked waaay better imho. I really hope that's what the final looks like. I do like the cel-shaded TW-C07A, but the price is ludicrous.

I'm with you, Junkbot. I'm sticking with TW-C07F Dirty Boy. It isnt toon accurate, but I really like how they look more like vehicles you might see in a construction yard.

I side with Nicorobot regarding Disco Devy. The chrome doesn't look bad, but for me it is too flashy.

Yea, I honestly never thought I would like the yellow weathered, but when you get it in hand it's like daaaamm. Even the finish makes it feel super gritty just like a construction vehicle should be. The dirtier the better!!

The weathered yellow is so beautiful. Even my wife likes it. When I show it to people who don't give a shit about toys, they say it's awesome. It really looks like an alien spark possessed some construction vehicles and brought them to life. So gorgeous, he's the cornerstone of my whole collection.
