I'm sorry, why do we care about the grey prototype when they already had the color version on display?

Resin mold, not a 3D printed model. It's further in the production process. If you look closely it's much smoother.

I wonder why they left him so gappy. Pretty sure those plates can connect more tightly... at least I hope so. o_O

Beautiful. The more I see of the robot mode the more I find to criticise (still really like it though) but this planet mode....its fricking perfect, I can hear that Vince DiCola music from that first scene of TF:TM....ack I know this is way too expensive for what it is but if they ever make it available to the UK I'm going to have a very hard time resisting it.

Its a shame you don't get a little Lithone for him to snack on ;)

Much as I love the character and his scenes will always give me goosebumps (dat synth! ) Unicron must be the best conceptual rip off in sci-fi of the century.

Completely blag the concept and Modus Operandi of the Death star, add a chomping mouth, Saturn ring and transformation et voila! An all new sci-fi nemesis for the ages! :D

Agreed, I do think he's more visusly interesting than the Death Star though, with the jaws, pincers, ring and the spikes around the equator. I also think the design owes something to 2001's Space Station V and the Ship from ulysses 31. I mean let's face it, everyone was ripping off Star Wars in the 80s TF:TM is super guilty of it.

Good point about Space Station V.

Oh, and way more visually interesting for sure. They upgraded a pretty dull battleship grey orb and blessed it with Orson Welles and a hundred bells and whistles.

I actually kinda like the fact that TFTM is so blatant in the SW licks. Megatron's improv lightsaber duelling Prime ... Perceptor boring Magnus piloting the shuttle with his science smarts and stats about the odds just like 3-P0 with Han.

Or even just the identical fading opening crawl we had (I think just in the U.K.; the U.S. version was different.)

Unicron is Galactus plus the Death Star. TT:TM I feel managed to riff off of Star Wars visuals and other sci fi in a very pleasing way. Star Wars does the same thing, so it is tradition!

You're looking at BBTS' page, aren't you?

That's ~$200 for BBTS' own profits, essentially. They're not getting wholesale for him. They have to order through HasLab like everybody else.

BBTS' page is more geared for international buyers who aren't eligible for the campaign, or for people who don't have $600 to drop RIGHT NOW but can feasibly set aside ~$40/mo until Unicron actually comes out.

Too bad they didn't do that.
