Dimitri: "No matter the reason, it is evil to kill. I cannot forget that so easily." Also Dimitri: "Kill every last one of them!"
Nintendo confirms removal of Chris Niosi as the voice actor for Fire Emblem: Three Houses/Heroes' Byleth, new voiceover coming via patch Not a Fire Emblem fan, but I figured this was worth sharing.
So playing through Black Eagles and Bernadetta is very much a "must protecc!" character, my initial impressions of Hubert was that he was a Soren/Jakob hybrid but as I started unlocking supports I'm getting a scary asf vibe, Caspar's a dumbass, a lovable dumbass but still a dumbass, and Lindhart... oh for crying out loud stop making excuses and get some motivation already! And they called you the secret fusion of Lyn and Rheinhart? Also, is it just me or did anybody else get "must protecc!" vibes from Edelgard once her C support was unlocked?
I'm trying to steal away Dorothea and Lysithea but Bernadetta would be next in line lol, she's cute. I'll get into her room one day... Hubert is probably super loyal to Edgelord and creepy to everyone else, which is kinda Jakob-y I get "must protecc" vibes for Dimitri tbh, he's so... naive The reclass system in this game is probably the best it's ever been in Fire Emblem. The weapon ranks deciding what classes a character can be makes a lot of sense and lets you play around (mostly) with weapons and skills that you normally aren't able to. I wish weapons weren't still tied to classes though, my Byleth has D rank faith but can't use healing magic as a myrmidon but seemingly retains all her sword skills as a mage where I CAN use healing. I also noticed there's no bow knight class in this game? Or at least not yet? Which is kind of a bummer, sorry Ashe, infantry archers just aren't good in Fire Emblem. I was upset that this game didn't have BEXP like in the Rad games but the game is lenient enough that babying units isn't too annoying. Supports by proximity I haven't really liked in general but there's a lot of school stuff to boost support points as well which makes up for it. I wish bosses weren't "I sit on this throne while your 12 dudes gang up on me" because it felt like Fates made some progress to changing that up, but I'm not sure that's a problem they'll ever fix long term. Really fun game, biggest disappointment is that I feel the teacher stuff could be waaaaaaay deeper than it is because it's easily my favorite part. Like why do we skip entire weeks on the calendar!? I want to grade homework damn it! oh and sothis is top cute so far
Apparently the first two days of physical sales in Japan were lower than Awakening and Fates. #FireEmblem O'clock on Twitter
So for context my only exposure to Fire Emblem is gaining as Lucina in Smash Bros, in fact I find the Fire Emblem characters to be some of the more fun to play as characters in Smash. Its got me thinking of picking up some of the Fire Emblem games for my 3DS & Switch. How good is Fire Emblem Warriors? I figured I start with that since of how cheap it is on Amazon. And which games are Lucina in? Any help with either questions would be great.
Fire Emblem Warriors isn't really a Fire Emblem game: its a Dynasty Warriors game with a Fire Emblem skin. Its still a good game but whether you enjoy it or not really depends on if you enjoy Dynasty Warriors games or not. Actual Fire Emblem games play nothing like it. If you want a 3DS game, then the options available for you are Fire Emblem Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates, and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. If you're a beginner to the series I would recommend Awakening. Not to mention Awakening is also the game that Lucina's from. Echoes is also a game I recommend but due to it being a remake of the second game of the series (in all its Famicom jank glory) it plays quite differently. Then there's Fates. As a game Fates is very good. However, Fates in many ways fell victim to some very questionable business tactics from Nintendo which in turn led to a very problematic story. To explain, Fates has three campaigns, and two of those campaigns were sold as separate games (Birthright and Conquest respectively) with the other campaign available as DLC. And then later on, the third canon campaign, Revelations was sold as separate DLC. So make of that as you will. All of that said, if you've got a Switch why not go for the most recent game in the series, Fire Emblem Three Houses? It just came out a week ago and its frikin' awesome!
Thanks for the tips! Yeah I’ll have to definetly get Awakening since it has Lucina. Will have to see if I can get it cheaper from Amazon or Gamestop next time I get paid. Though I might also get Warriors to just to check it out as well. I would get Three Houses but I’d rather wait for it to go on sale. Thanks to games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 I’ve realized that most of the time a game just isn’t worth the 60 some asking price. So I’ll hold out until I get a handle of the series’ mechanics and if I even like the type of game they are. So yeah I’ll wait for a sale on that one.
OK, I just had to share this: As I'm sure many of you already know, Heroes currently has a summoning banner from Sacred Stones featuring the Gerik Mercenaries called "Desert Mercenaries". As I often do, once I built up enough summoning orbs I would go on a summoning session. Anyway, after using the free summoning session and the first summoning ticket I had built up my summoning percentage a bit. So about a little over a week ago, I went on the banner to do a summoning session with the second summoning ticket only to be pity broken: OK, not really a problem. Of course that does mean that the percentages are reset but oh well. So, built up my orbs again and then a few days ago I went on a summoning session on the banner again with the third summoning ticket except: Well, guess the percentage wasn't going to get any higher. Even so, just this morning I had accumulated fifteen free orbs again and went for the the banner once more with the last summoning ticket. Only for her to pop up: You know, I'm not complaining. Kliff, Flora, and Sue weren't characters I had before so I don't really mind being pity broken by them. But three times in a row on the same banner? And none of them are a focus character? What are the odds of that? And what did I ever do to the Gerik Mercenaries that they won't show up at all in their own banner?
Sothis as a christmas tree is the most amazing thing in the game. Also snagged a couple of Ninos to go with the free Jaffar we're getting. Glad I won't have to let him down. Cute characters to be pity broken by at least lol The summoning ritual can be a funny thing. Better than getting to 6% and no pity breakers though imo Did you roll for Legendary Julia btw?
