Archer was extremely overrated. The only reason he got so much love from fans was because he would interact with them, something that no one at Hasbro had previously done. The guys steering the ship right now are the best to do so in ages. I would rank them just below the crews who brought G1 and BW to life.

I guess it depends on your point of view. Archer was involved with the Unicron Trilogy. Differing opinions on the toy and cartoon aside, at least we got new stories.
The current team has only rehashed old characters, forcing line-wide gimmicks on most, and come up with no original stories to explain and/or connect them together.

In regard to Aaron vs John, nothing against Aaron, but
John is my hero big time!! If only I could shake his hand in person and thanks him for delivering the 3 toys below. I have waited over 30+ years to finally get or see the release of:
    3. Another Armored UM (Siege) since 1986
    2. G1 Siege Skyfire, never done before
    1. G1 Unicorn, full sphere. Never done before!!!

Honorable mention: Titan Metroplex, Siege Omega Supreme.

To be fair though, the only reason we can have a full on G1 Unicron nowerdays is due to the success since that time. A Unicron of this size would not have been viable back in Armada days, regardless of who was directing

There's a fine balance that needs to be struck between fanwank and moving the line forward.

The Prime Wars were a fun in that regard with it's approach to combiners and introducing both new members and whole new teams. With Siege leaning HEAVILY on nostalgia we need the pendulum to swing back once WfC is over.

Okay, now I'm stuck on this train of thought ... I want a shirt that says "Galactic Man." Make it happen, Redbubble.

Galactic Man looking quite nice and I look forward to having him. Mentally I always think Astro Magnum since IIRC Galactic shared the original's color but either way it's cool.
Not sure why this thread turned into an Aaron Archer vs John Warden thread. I grew up during Archer's run so I have him to thank for making me enjoy this hobby in the first place. Warden I think is doing well and I think each of them did what was best suited for the time. While I do miss getting new and original continuities with good toys accompanying them I do feel it's good that we're finally pulling the G1 fan wank full force so we can get it out of the way but in a way that's stellar enough for all of us to enjoy. As long as stuff keeps coming and UT fans like me get nice homages along the way I'm happy enough.

Going back to the Archer/Warden thing-- people are ignoring (a) Cyberverse and (b) the importance of Generations to Hasbro's bottomline.

During Archer's tenure, Hasbro was trying the broaden the franchise with new toylines like Armada and Animated. Hasbro is still broadening the franchise with new animated shows (New RiD, Cyberverse) but they're also putting a lot of resources into Generations. And we now have "three main branches" to the TF Franchise: Movie, Generations and CUrrent Cartoon. The current cartoon skews younger then Armada and the pre-New RiD stuff but its still there to broaden the audience of fans.

Basically, you can't blame Archer for not being focused on G1 stuff and you can't blame Warden for not focusing on non-G1 stuff. They each had different goals for Hasbro.

Yes,.....I want him but though i have him already, i like these colors anyway. So like so much that is coming out it's hard to keep track of everything. Then it seems you have too decide what is out now to hurry up and buy now or wait for other stuff to come out and buy that first. Just so much to figure out right now with all this news of new transformers.
