I think thats when the Preview Night usually is IIRC. I’d expect it to be revealed Thursday during the panel.

So, Needlenose lost despite having nearly 200 more votes that Runamuck?

    How?
Even with post deadline votes, Needlenose still had more! So how the hell did Runamuck win?

Runamuck / Runamock pretty much means we get a lazy repaint as Runabout too (rather than a new car with the same robot mode) which isn't the end of the world as plenty of people seemingly didn't even notice they were a TransAm and a Lotus and not the same car twice so I recall.

They've been straight up repaints before after all. we really didn't need some more Decepticons and I'm happy to have those two.

I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do with these Character Clones though.

You could make the same arguments about these obscene amount of seeker releases we've been getting recently. That's part of the reason why I hate Jet decepticons so much. There's no diversity in the ranks, all you get is a bunch of flying starscream look-a-likes only to be mixed in with other flying decepticons when you could be getting more ground troops with tanks, cars, etc. for vehicle mode

I wouldn't have any issue if the Siege repaints of say Sideswipe was Deepcover & Clampdown or Tigertrack as at least those would be unique individuals - Although I like the G2 deco on Sideswipe ; by making him 1st Hasbro along with several others is asking me to comparmentalise the duplicates as some sort of clone army of the various characters who already have a toy. I don't have that issue with Novastorm or Redwing as they are "people" (so to speak) not clones of a pre-existing individual with the same name sporting a different logo or colour.

So I am happy to give a pass to those, I might even not mind to much if they made a Dicalone colour Ironhide either. But I guess I tend to think the other colours of the same specific individual are more of a product novelty than they are an addition to the line as such. They don't so much add to a collection as sit on the side as a collectable (yeah I know that is a fine distinction) - think of it this way. your like 8 years old and you are
sitting on the floor playing with your Transformers - you have to stretch your imagination a bit for each additional version of the same thing that joins the battle when they don't even have a new name.

I suppose we can all call Grey Soundwave Galactic Man or Shockblast or some such though & the G2 Sideswipe is specifically stated to be a clone of Sideswipe - so that does open the door to the idea nicely & even offer an ""In Universe" explanation for the "Seekers" at the same time.

Why would you expect to vote for a character I already have?

On the other hand, the Seekers are a cheap repaint with a large support base within the fandom.

If Hasbro can churn out a dozen that'll sell it turns a quick profit they can use to fund more unique molds in the line proper.

Look on the bright side, since they like to get at least 4 uses out of a mold, maybe they'll retool them into those con sisters that were botcon exclusives.

Just gonna throw this out there:

Optimus Primal won the "Next Prime" fan poll. He went on to have a retail figure but also got a special SDCC repaint that truly embraced the nature of his poll victory.

Flash forward to this year's SDCC. Impactor and Mirage win the fan poll. They're announced as getting retail figures, but then it's revealed there's a special set including two special repaints/new heads that truly embraces the poll victory.

Remember when I said Primal was always going to be part of PotP and all we did was vote for which repaint we wanted at SDCC? Yeah, told ya. Because they just did it again.

Which just goes to show you, Spinister got a figure anyway. And I bet Needlenose will too. Hell, Runamuck and Runabout will likely get retail figures, and all we just did was vote on which one will get some special repaint.

thats actually not what the evidence supports. why would hasbro create a new mold to be an sdcc exclusive (last year in the hypothetical if primal lost scenario). its more logical that the retail releases exist because of the vote winners and are simply "prepaints". especially since primal, impactor and mirage are all late wave figures. hell the fan vote pack releases at the same time as retail impactor and mirage. none of those 3 figures would have been guaranteed release if they lost. the fan votes do not determine who will not get a figure (as evidenced by spinister), only who will get one
