It's really sad what's become of MT. Not sure what's going on with them but they appear to be in the midst of serious struggles. There's no excuse for a small run, crowdfunded project that was delayed specifically to address QC issues to have shipped so many defective units to buyers. The worst issues on this thread go far beyond a few floppy joints. I hope they can turn it around.

What Targetmasters were they confirmed to still be working on? I consider Contact Shot to be among my best MP figures, but he seemed to end up warming many a warehouse shelf. My understanding was that they canceled their Crosshairs and I did not think they would be doing any further Targetmasters. Before they started imploding before our very eyes, I would have been excited for the prospect of more MT Targetmasters.

 

Actually and IMO, it started with TC/SW. It was more obvious on G2 Meteor and pretty much confirmed on Solarflare, especially by MT themselves.

At this point, they need to produce one of the coneheads and absolutely make sure its top notch before the lose buyers. I'm curious to see what happens on Pyrotail now, especially since it now is competing against Has/Tak Unicron.

I'm also curious about Pyrotail. Obviously there's a passionate segment of the fanbase who really likes the more obscure Seekers, but I don't how many of them there are and of those how many would shell out for this, especially with how poorly Solarflare went. I thought Solarflare was a pretty good choice for a repaint since the figure can also scratch the itch for those who are interested in Sunstorm, making him a bit more prominent than the other background characters. I know I have no interest in going further with these, unrelated to QC issues, just because I only really cared about Sunstorm/"the yellow one." Until recently I thought I might bite on more Autobot Targetmasters, but the way MT has been headed, that would not longer be a sure thing for me.

 

Happy to report my copy finally came in and it’s absolutely pristine. Zero joint issues, beautiful paint, the only thing I was able to find that was wrong was some very minor chipping and paint transfer on the female ends of the tabs on his thighs. Which is probably fairly unavoidable and very easy to fix. I am extremely happy I bit and can’t wait for the next Crowdfund one. C’mon Pyrotail!! He’s next and he’s my current most wanted season 1 figure (since I have everyone else covered lol) and that flamethrower accessory is spectacular.

So QC dropped from 2018, starting with Thunder Manus and the Seeker repaints.

Don't forget, their only new moulds after 2017 were MTCD God Bomber and MTCD Jetfire.

Briefly released for sale at Robo Toy Base and snapped up ever so quickly.
Definitely produced a little more than what they quoted.

 

Is anyone surprised really?

Maketoys: "Factory, we need 562 of this thing!!!"
Factory: "Are you joking, do you think this is a shop?"

 

Or. Robo Toy Base bought several copies from the crowdfunding effort like a lot of us did and then sold them.

 

That's what's worrying me. The three Coneheads are all I need out of Maketoys now. The miserable Takara efforts and it's KO cousins don't work for me. I owned the Takara Ramjet when it first came out and happily sold it years ago.
If Maketoys implodes before the three coneheads release, I'm stuck hoping that FansToys does them (and even if they did, there'd be a long wait till they got through Seekers first) or hoping that Takara does a V2..V3... V-whatever. And I'm just not confident that Takara will.

Please Maketoys. Just get the three Coneheads out and do a halfway decent job. That's all I ask!!

 

There was only 2 in stock on Robotoybase. So clearly it was the two they ordered.... people are so quick to decide it’s an elaborate scheme despite having zero evidence instead of just using their head..

Source: I was on Robotoybase when they put them up, bought one, and checked how many they had in stock by putting the max amount in my cart before and after I bought my copy from them just because I was curious. There was only 2 available to buy at any given time then they were sold out and have been since.

 

Nah, not making any assumptions of an 'elaborate scheme'... if you've dealt with Asian manufacturing factories, regardless of the official cutoff target, there will always be more produced and released to select Asian sellers.
This then gets quietly offered to regular buyers (usually in SE Asia), albeit on a very limited first in best dressed basis (and usually at a mark up unless offered loose).
How do I know? First hand experience with HK and SG toy distributors (not your 3rd or 4th tier sellers).
Never be too quick to make assumptions and critique based on limited experience with only one seller as there's much happening in the background and the regular buyers quite often are happy to keep quiet then boast of their acquisitions... it's a win-win for both parties.

 

And? It's not like these buyers got a discount. For all intent and purposes, they have joined the crowdfunding.

I believe the minimum quantity is 500. It has come up many times. However, it may need to be tagged along a bigger run.

 

Here’s the thing though... we were literally only talking about one seller, not if it ever happens in general. Also I find it hilarious in yr haste to look so very smart that you made a wild assumption and then said “never be too quick to make assumptions” lolololol get outta here with that nonsense.

 

Hey I'm new to collecting is this still available to purchase anywhere? Have all their other seekers

 

Right here or from someone who picked him up during the initial crowdfunding. He's going to be pricey.
