I was under the impression that a temp hold goes on your card, disappears after a few days and the we will all get charged once the campaign closes.

As for the rest, if $300 - $350 isn't out of the question, you're halfway there. Good luck in finding the rest so you can make the purchase.

Your charged then refunded ( to see if you have the money) then when the campaign ends, fully charged for real. But if you use PayPal credit you can pay it off over 6 months.

Off the top of my head, needing $600 immediately after the campaign closes for some "life happens" moment. Or, Hasbro disappearing in the night with a suitcase comically stuffed with $4.6 million tufting out of it [and then heading to the Philippines].

Sorry, sorry... I just can't let that go.

I would argue that the headline is bad though because it leads people to think TTM is selling their own version and not simply supporting the HasLab by proxy to Japan. At the least, it should end in a question mark as the rest of the front page has a lot of "maybes" in there. Starting with, "Takara Tomy Website have updated information regarding the possible release of War For Cybertron Unicron as a Takara Tomy Mall Exclusive."

It also states the start date for orders is unclear which is debatably inaccurate as the leading info suggests that it will start on the first day of WonderFest.

Really. 90% of my collection is 3P; when I saw the turn around time for this is 2 years I was like, "Only two years? YES!!"

Indeed. Granted I didn't have money already spent on it but Acoustic Wave was five to six years in limbo.

Probably two more before it gets to final production.

Did you read the thread? So much of it could be avoided by better reporting.

Well, maybe it wouldn't be avoided but at least it wouldn't directly fuel the misunderstanding.

Wondering what (if any) special features this behemoth will have... Hoping for opening inner compartments, lights & sounds, maybe a belly jail like the Armada figure, etc...

The life happens need is legitimate, although that can be the case with any purchase.
The Hasbro disappearing thing is less likely then you losing the money because someone broke into your house and stole it.

I think conjecture that there are two different releases is the starting point for every other flaw in the way the article presents itself.

Which is why I just posted this over there:
Which is also why I posted these images:
    SmartSelect_20190717-133349_Chrome.jpg SmartSelect_20190717-133404_Chrome.jpg

It clearly reads, "HasLab [Unicron]" implying it is in support of the HasLab effort not, "hey, we're cool, everyone. We're making our own version."

I think the one thing that HasLab is definitely used for the "testing the waters" of is to gauge interest of TF toy collectors in Hasbro sourced big ticket toys that aren't necessarily Masterpiece toys, in name at least. Its anecdotal but I've yet to see one Hasbro MP release that sold out quickly or at all in Canadian retail, specifically at Toys R Us. I think that MP may be fine in the Japanese market where it was made for but MP seems to have trouble really taking off in the west. With that in mind, HasLab could be a way for Hasbro to offer their own equivalent to Masterpiece(higher end premium Transformers toys) without the gamble that is part of doing business in the retail market.

So with that in mind, I definitely think that one of the things on the table for future planning, should Unicron be successfully funded, is combiner teams.

Obviously a $600 TF toy is not easy to accept for some. However, a $600 TF toy that is made up of smaller TF toys would likely offend people less if each individual combiner of the team is basically a $100 MP equivalent, similar to what we see in the 3rd party market's combiner teams.

It's not minor issue though. Especially when people dismiss reality for, "I will wait for the Takara version" and all signs point to that not being a thing that is going to exist.

This whole thing reminds me of people at work waiting to retire.

Years ago, the company I work for faced a unique situation in that it was reaching its 25th year of being a factory presence in the state. And almost 85% of its employees were looking at their 25th year in the company. At the time, the factory had very little in the way of reserve workforce and they saw a coming storm of people all retiring at once and having no experience to backfill the voids.

So, they staged a buyout program. People could take the buyout incentives offered [pretty decent packages] but they left when the company told them to. Not before, not after. This staggered the retirements over a multiyear program and gave everyone time to train up replacements.

This buyout happened twice, three times if you count management's and it was clearly stated it would never happen again because the company had clearly made arrangements to counter a sudden, massive void in workplace experience short of global disaster level events.

Since then, people ask every month, "heard any rumors of a buyout?" Or say, "if I go now, I'll miss that next buyout. I know it." When there's never going to be another buyout. HR has that same answer every time.

    The year is 2025

Hasbro announces their biggest figure yet: a $999, one meter tall cardboard cutout of Cybertron.

There will only be a 10 minute window in which to preorder it, and thousands of sweaty fans brace themselves to try to buy one before they sell out.

After all, it’s only a 5000 figure run, and once it’s gone it’s gone.

As soon as they hit the preorder button, they all get a sinking feeling that they’ve been ripped off, and feel an urge to defend their purchase no matter what. This creates free advertising for Hasbro.

As soon as the figures ship, the new biggest figure is announced: a 2 meter tall crayon drawing of Optimus Prime, retailing at only 1,500usd.

It’s a run of only 10,000 figures, so we have to pre-order it fast.

So, I think this toy is great. It's leagues better than Armada Unicron of course.

But as awesome as it is, it's still panel-city on the legs and back. And really, there's no way to avoid this right... Going from a sphere to a robot, it's gonna be a shell former or have lots of kibble one way or the other.

So I got a crazy idea. I want a Unicron where the outer shell comes off and unfolds, revealing a super mini Cybertron cityscape. Unicron then unfolds from inside this shell to a clean, toon accurate bot mode that gets to stand over Cybertron, raining down destruction.

Think of it like one of those old Mighty Max sets meets a Pretender version of Unicron.

Which is why there's needs to be a better... "sense of responsiblity" makes it sound far more important than the fate of an oversized toy [but for want of better phrasing] in how the information is presented.

People all already angsty over this thing being the HasLab campaign that it is. Presenting what may appear as false hope of an alternative option won't help.

2011 unicron is much better than Haslab Unicron.

The design is good. but, it's too expensive.

Mighty Max. But the rest of it is a neat idea. At that point though, they may as well sell a three foot tall, highly articulated ActionMaster with a twenty inch faux metal beach ball with rings.

Comment of the thread right there.

It’s officially what you pay for it.

Perhaps you have not seen a display with Unicron prominently displayed because.....

There isn’t a Unicron worth having as a centrepiece until now!

    Shocking. I know.

So we're back to the age of MattyCollector?

As for Unicron. As much as I want it, that price tag. Maybe if they didn't charge it all upfront, Like half now and a half at some point in2020 I'd be more up for it. I'll have to watch this one and seriously consider my options

Phsssh... clearly the intent is to buy a bunch of toy designers to display around it. Look as Takara shows you the proper way to display their TTM version of the figure.
    1563199573-haslab-unicron-0008-layer-17.jpg
Look, they're even making it way cooler than the HasLab version to spite all of the crowdfunders and bury them deep in buyer's remorse. That guy in the green shirt, injecting a double dose of pure kick ass into it.
