Probably a certificate with a watermark or something done that will stop fakes from being made about it, if not a special thanks and possibly those copies being made before any standard release, allowing them to enjoy what they helped make while letting others be able to get it, but after those that helped back it. Enjoy the fruits of the labor and investment for a while if you will

That should make it easier to secure - if Takara don't add a bastard tax onto the cost.

Actually it’s not stupid at all.
When you croudfund a project you become an actual investor. And when one of the selling points is the guarantee that the run will be limited to the number of backers you are assured that this product won’t be produced beyond the production promise. Failure to do that is already considered fraud. And as an investor in the production of said item you do have rights.

As for toys not being investments, I’ll ignore that one for your sake.

The Japanese flat rate consumption tax would be 10%, regardless, I think.

It's been over a year since I read that. In trying to find you the source, I found enough alternate reports claiming otherwise that I'll retract my claim about 3rd party vendors being why it made the 5,000 mark.

LOL every aspect of the above is solid gold bullshit. There’s a specific name for a type of crowdfunding where the contributors make an investment. It’s called “equity crowdfunding” and is governed by specific laws and regulations. This is not it. And even in plain vanilla crowdfunding there are many examples of products being taken to the general market after being funded. Nothing precludes a company from doing so. What a load of absolute codswallop.

“Hasbro's global crowdfunding plan just announced It will be decided to sell "HASLAB UNICLON" in Japan at Takara Tomy Mall!
We plan to start bookings by the 1st festival day.
On this occasion, it was decided to decorate the prototype at the won-fest venue.
Please check the huge transformers of unmatched size in the past by yourself.
Thank you for your support of crowdfunding!”

I’m hopeful the translation I got from google translate is correct and it’s just opening up the crowdfunding to another region

Again. If that were the case the sourcing page would specifically indicate WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A MASSIVE WOLRD WIDE RELEASE. But they don’t say that, do they. To do so would be false advertising and fraud because they are conning money out of you under false pretenses.
Why is this concept so hard for you people to understand?

That shouldn't be an issue, Asian resellers do carry TT mall exclusives. Unless TT goes the Bandai-route and starts marginalising their retail partners or TT gets cold feet and cancels the project, Unicron's availability shouldn't be a problem.

Hilarious. That’s not how it works dude. Call the FTC if you like. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to the details of your lawsuit in a few years but you’ll be representing yourself because no lawyers going to take that case.

Without one of the other markets I doubt he will get enough supporters. We either need the European market or even better the Asian market to make Unicron a reality.

Lol ok buddy. You believe what you want. But when the time comes and you realize that this thing isn’t being produced beyond the promised numbers, do me a favor, picture me whispering softly in your ear in the mooooooooooost condescending way possible “I told you so”

What you get is a Unicron that no one else will be able to get unless it’s on the secondary market. A handful of us went through all of this with the sail barge. 45 or so days of people not believing the toy would see broader release. Holding out hope retail might get it. Holding out hope for a cheaper price. This isn’t preordering from BBTS. Any preconceived notions you have about retail need to be thrown out. Haslab is a whole different beast.

I literally don’t care! I’m not relying in any way on a subsequent release, I’m just predicting one. And if it happens, the people who crowdfunded will have gotten exactly what they purchased. There’s no case, and even if there was, there are no damages.

For what it’s worth, I want it to be crowdfunded and I definitely, definitely want all the fans who paid for it to enjoy it as a real centerpiece of their collections.

I can honestly live with that if it happens. If I had the money right now, this wouldn't be up for debate and I would be backing this no questions, but since I can't and if I can't get a hold of this and no mass retail then alright.

This happens and I am honestly okay with it. I would be more upset if they made a set of figures or a team that goes together and made one of them an exclusive of like this, but that isn't the case. I really just want this to be made regardless as this would just be that awesome for those that can get him

I am still debating with myself on this guy
i like to pose / transform my figures a lot (yes city bots as well time to time)
and the mess of panels on his legs have me worried, where do i grab to manipulate the legs on a 19 pound figure that should have strong ratchets in the legs

It's possible I misread the announcement, but there was nothing saying Hasbro can't/won't ever sell it through another means. And it would be stupid of them to promise that.

Also, you're not "investing" in Unicron. You're buying one. It's no different than anyone else who pre-orders a figure online.

Just because Hasbro hasn't included language to discount a future release...odds are good they won't. If they barely make the 8k mark and TTM sees limited pre-orders, then odds are good they're not going to deem it worth making more of.

Unless they do the same thing again and say "if we get enough pre-orders we'll do a second run to fill those."
