I like the Sentinel Prime mold, honestly. But I don't have the Astrotrain retool of it. It belongs as ol' Senny P. He's the best color, and he'll build a space wall and make the Decepticons pay for it.

Siege Astrotrain however is Astrotrain. I'll take 12.

It was pointless from the beginning.

Looking at them side by side...I’m going to have to say I like TR and Siege Astrotrain pretty much equally.

tr modes where more fururistic and all, also given how heavily inspired the siege figure is, while the train looks proper, the shuttle looks disproportionate, so each mold does something good and something bad, tr looked pretry cohesive in both modes but a bit... too futuristic, and the shuttle looked like a pancake... the train liken armored trian with something on top... for no reason at all... yet it looked great for a fururistic version, foe a more retron of course siege fits, and sadly the deluxe classics remain the only one that looks modern.. even if small

I actually am still a fan of the old deluxe Astrotrain from Classics, the newer ones are nice but he still remains a favorite.

And Don Figueroa design was inspired by the G1 cartoon characters design. You’d have to be blind to say this new figure doesn’t represent how he looks in G1.

Hmm. I was hoping for an Astrotrain that would work more like Galaxy Shuttle and be able to haul Micromasters in his altmodes, but despite my preference for G1/Movieverse "real-world fidelity in altmodes" I might have to think on this guy along with the MM's.

Proportions a bit off on that Rumble, but liking that Ratbat! Buzzsaw and Frenzy are inevitable now. Surprised that they were not included in that 10pk.

Most of the toy line doesn't really look Cybertronian despite having a name that implies it would have Cybertronian vehicles in it. There's a few exceptions to this like Soundwave but for the most part there isn't a whole lot of Cybertronian versions of characters in the line to begin with.

That said... I already mentioned in a previous post I'm totally fine with accepting the TR version as a Cybertronian version of Astrotrain. But Siege is far better at being a modern version of the original toy with better articulation. They could both be good in their own way but as an interpretation of G1 there's no contest which one does the better job.

I agree with all of this so why were responding to me? I think you quoted the wrong post.

Well Legends Astrotrain is a really fun figure with two pretty cool modes and has toon accurate deco.
    So he's pretty great.

I would not call it heated, just a debate among toy enthusiasts. I like them both since the gimmick is so different. Gotta love those dress shoes.

Somebody got some pics at the Hasbro booth set up at SDCC of the upcoming figures. We get a look at the extra accessory that comes with astrotrain the Micromaster 10 pack, a Micromaster combiner duo, rumble and ratbat, and battle master Rung!
