So, looks like there may be a broader global release albeit in limited numbers.

Will have the same crowdfunding or will we have time to save up and purchase?

I read on tformers.com somewhere release date is 2021, so there's time to save up.

Look, there’s no way this thing isn’t happening and in my view there’s no way it’s going to be a limited run either. As I said in another thread, once the R&D is done, Hasbro is incentivized to sell as many of these things worldwide as possible.

No, there’s not. Once we pass the backing date in August, you cannot order this figure. The will only make as many as are backed, if it succeeds.

I don’t believe this at all. There’s going to be another opportunity to buy it at some point, I’m certain.

You can believe that Hasbro is lying to us if you like, but for those that absolutely want this figure the only certain way to obtain one is to back the crowdfunding campaign.

I agree with this. You’re absolutely right that the only guarantee is to back it.

And it’s not Hasbro lying, it’s Hasbro “changing its mind.” It’ll be spun as a “fantastic opportunity” for fans owing to “incredible demand” and it’ll happen long enough after the original campaign so backers don’t feel too burned.

It’s just business. If they can make money doing something, they will do it.

Theyve already said that if the crowdfunding campaign is achieved then there will be ways for people outside the US to get this

They didn’t use the “incredible demand” line for the sail barge, don’t plan on it here. And yes the barge had some units after the release available for international but that was a really small number sold through eBay. And they were gone quick.

The example we have to look at is the sail barge. And everyone had all these same arguments back them. And now they have to shell out close to a grand, if not more, to get one.

Plus, if these projects get release later, what’s the incentive to back now? There isn’t any. For Haslab to work, The is is the model to use. Limited run, limited time to order.

No matter what. If you live in NA and you want him I'd buy him before the end of August.

I was speculating with my wife that they might have a small batch up on EBay for Europe. Then probably a bigger batch for the Asian market. I wonder if the TT Mall pre-orders go in to the 8k needed.

Disagree. The sail barge was delivered to backers less than six months ago so there’s absolutely no evidence that it won’t come back on the market.

A significant amount of these costs can be attributed to R&D and QC. That’s being covered by the crowdfunding. From there, the net profit on one of these (revenue less cost of materials, manufacture, shipping and taxes) is probably in the $100+ range. It’s probably $2 on a deluxe.

If you can sell 40,000 of something by allowing more people to buy it at some stage, instead of 10,000, why wouldn’t you? Principle? Hasbro is a public company. It’s not guided by principle. The only argument is that it could potentially chill the market for future crowdfunding - but again, Hasbro is ultimately governed by share price and P&L. That’s it.

Think the same could happen to that new Armada Optimus Prime we saw earlier this year? (And maybe this month? I'm tired of bringing it up again and again and again. o_O )

In what respect? I have no idea, but my guess is that it’s coming to the states - at minimum as a Pulse only or Selects release. Maybe we’ll know more tomorrow.

What's funny is there's still Star Wars fans who think they'll be able to buy a barge at cost. They won't. That opportunity is gone. Same will happen with Unicron.

Going back to my point about the future of Haslab. I back a project. I tie my funds up for a year, year and a half. If I find out well after the fact I didn't need to do that, guess what, I won't. Then Haslab is dead in the water. No one will fund anything because, well, why would you?

Don't think of this as Hasbro tooling a mold for a retail release like Springer, where they can put him in future waves, or do a retool to recoup some of the costs. Like I said before, these are limited run, limited time to order releases.
