I'll be spending a week in California in September and on the list of possible things to do is visit Disneyland.

However, given it's been over a decade and I've...strongly...disagreed with the direction of the park, I'm not sure if it would be worth the expense. Galaxy's Edge I'm not really that keen on since I rather don't like the direction Star Wars is going in (and the super expensive stuff is out of my budget range anyway). They got rid of the GOOD Star Tours, too, so that's a bummer.

There's also the possibility of hitting Knott's instead, since it's nearby and I've never been there. But that's assuming my dad even wants to visit an amusement park, his back hasn't been the best...but I'm also a train nut and Knott's has super-rare and authentic Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge equipment I'd love to check out.

I'm the furthest thing from being a Star Wars fan but I love interactive experiences. I might try to hit up Galaxy's Edge next year. A week in Cali won't be too hard to save up for. Watched videos of the Droid Depot and it's awesome. I'd do the lightsaber build too.

Edaville Thomas Land in Carver, MA is cute. I recommend it if you get the chance.

I heard the new Ride for Galaxy's Edge, Rise of the Resistance. I first heard it will open later this Summer. Now they announce it will open December this year.

    According to this article:
Timing for Opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Announced

That ride opens in December at Disney World. Disneyland’s version opens in January!! Haha, yeah, I thought Disneyland’s version would
open in August, which would have been great for our trip there in November. Oh well.

You know, I misread that. I guess I'll have to go to Disneyland again next year because my family trip won't be in time for them to open.

Disney should have just goddamn waited for Rise to be functional before opening the expansion. As it is, between the super quick burn-off of crowds and now the supposed centerpiece ride looking more like an Eisner level disaster more than anything...I have to wonder if it's even going to be profitable to keep Star Wars land open in a few years. At this point I'd be shocked if the hotel thing ever opens too given the popularity of Star Wars is falling rapidly and apparently Ep 9 needed reshoots so it's on shaky ground if nothing else.

Family is heading to California in the middle of September and my aunt lives about 30 minutes away from Disneyland so chances are we're gonna pay a visit there. Maybe also/or Knott's since we've never been there either.

Regardless, I've already found myself looking into ebay lots for cheap disney trading pins to prepare for the visit. Though my old "All American" pin lanyard currently holds all of my actual non-Disney souvenir travel pins currently so I might end up buying a new starter set for a replacement...I really do not want to remove all thirty of those pins just to use an old lanyard lol.
