Seems Hasbro Pulse won't be selling these until September 4th...I caved and already have an eBay order anyways. Will ship next Monday, assuming he actually gets the figure. Would rather pay a bit more to get it sooner than risk not getting it at all.

Hopefully the [EDIT: freakin' morons] at Hasbro pry their heads out of their asses and do this version as a "less-limited" edition.

The nature of exclusives is to bring people to the convention or to scramble to their website to get these items. They know exactly what they are doing. It doesn't fit into your plans, and that's understandably disappointing but it is what it is.

It's like getting angry because Spiderman is on PS4 only and you own an Xbox or you want to play Halo but own a PlayStation.

Hmm... base model is $450. Hasbro SDCC exclusive will be $600. And everyone will blame those who crowdfunded Unicron for setting the precedent.

I think a flaw in this thinking, at least in regard to SDCC, is the the convention is generally sold out within days, if not hours, of the sales going live. After that, you're kinda screwed. Hasbro and the like generally don't announce exclusives until late May or June.

Personally, I am not going to invest nine months in advance in tickets, hotels and travel for a convention where I won't know anything about the exclusives I might want until a month, month and a half before the show.

SDCC exclusives do nothing to support the fans.

Logic still holds for me, one of the reasons I do what it takes to go to the convention each year is in a large point to get the exclusives. Sure they sell out in minutes and there is no guarantee but there are things that can be done to increase your odds. Now as for living in San Diego so I don't have to pay for flights or hotels just $11 for a return train ticket, yeah that's just luck. Well, and seizing the opportunities that were presented to me but mainly luck!

Edit: to the nature of not knowing what the exclusives will be, same for everything at SDCC, you buy the tickets not knowing who will be there, what panels will be run, nothing. You just have to take your chances.

That's the point I am trying to make. You don't know, you take a chance and not everyone lives in San Diego.

If I make all these plans for a trip that's pretty much going to be a one time deal for me and that's the year they release a Bot-Bots 100 repaint pack, not going to be a fun time. Add to it that I don't get to just take off from work on whim and scheduling that far out in advance is something I can't do.

It's genuinely not worth it to me to take that risk. Which leaves me and many others, I'd imagine, with two options: pay more by scalper or go without.

If it's something small and very much centralized to one or so fanbases... yes, an exclusive is a draw. But many of those conventions are readily available to enter the day of the show with general admission.

San Diego Comic Con doesn't need exclusives to draw in people. It's become such a bloated ad campaign that most go just to be going. You'll never convince me that if Hasbro didn't have this exclusive of that, it would genuinely impact ticket sales.

In fact, Mattel has even trivialized the convention experience to, "order it on our site, make the effort to get to the convention just so we can confirm the order in person, then, a month later, we'll send it to you."

At what point do you feel that it's essential for them to make you stop by their booth just to confirm that you made your order and all the paperwork checks out?

Now, if you argue that scalpers would stop going... then maybe you're right. because I am certain some folks go simply to profit off everyone else.

    But who needs them anyway?
