I'm going to watch the crowdfunding effort and see how much support it's getting.
It's currently over 1,000 so when it gets near 8k, I may decide at the last minute if I want to buy it or not.
For now, I'm in no rush to immediately do anything.

Maybe I am wrong but I think a portion of the angst here is that folks feel blindsided by the whole thing. Forty-eight days is a really narrow window to collect $600, certainly.

This larger than anticipated figure shows up in a grand announcement out of the blue and is immediately followed by the ultimatum of buy it now or buy it never and a ticking clock.

I don't know how the sail barge was handled and haven't followed the Cookie Monster thing but maybe, just maybe, folks would feel less grief if there's been an announcement of, "Hey, this is going to happen. And in a few weeks, the commitment window for orders will open up."

But I'm not Hasbro, I don't have a team of people who do this for a living and they haven't explained why they've done what is taking place is regard to the methods of the campaign.

If I had to guess, SDCC is a big factor in it all. They'll certainly want to parade this for that show.

I was tempted to wait but knew I’d buy in at the end anyways so I may as well get it over and done with. But, clearly, most backers align with your approach.

There should have been lead up. Some kind of announcement suggesting nerds to start saving money (I say that in jest). But I agree your points may be a factor.

Unicron looks freakin amazing! As awesome as it would look towering over my Legends collection, it's unfortunately a pass for me. I can accept the price (especially given how limited it's going to be) but there's no way I'd have the space for it.

It's sad when we have to point out "I say in jest" when calling our collective community nerds just to avoid someone getting offended.

But, yep, that's about the only flaw I can find looking at this from the outside and from a distance. HasLab could've given more warning.

Or at least offered some sort of an ironclad payment plan/contract. Even if we finish paying for it 5 months before it releases, that option would have given our wallets more relief (or time to soften the blow,).

I hear you. I’ve been called out for saying it like it is, too. Can’t win, just roll with it :thumb

How much time would have been enough though? We have roughly a month and half? Are we asking for 60, 90 days?

I don’t think the payment plan is viable for a project like this. Hasbro would absolutely need at least 20% down and the risk of people bailing is huge.

Considering they're ready and willing to take our money two years before the the finished product, at least a few more weeks wouldn't have been asking too much.

Does anyone know how far ahead the sail barge was announced?

So..... a $575 figure has hands that are worse than some MP hands and most 3p figure hands? Wtf... they only have 2 hinges and only one on the base of the thumb. Not to mention very hollow... we need to get them to change them!!

So I was pretty down on this figure yesterday, but I’ve been thinking a lot about it and I think the figure’s pros far outweigh my previous nitpicks. I put in my order last night. Can’t wait to put him next to my Amazon Unicron.

I just hope I’m able to change the shipping address, as although I have no current plans to move, in two years time when he’s ready to ship I’ll likely be living somewhere else.

Those hands ARE atrocious and unacceptable. At this scale he should have hands as poseable as actual hands, or close. And they're hollow to boot. It's just their normal garbage scaled up, no improvements made for size or price. It's probably a design they've had lying around that was made for a regular scale titan.

No ma'am, that's a deal breaker (not that there was a deal in the first place). I kinda hope funding fails, but it won't teach them the lesson it should, it will only tell them the public won't pay that much for a transformer.

Looks great, altho it's of no particular interest for me. Very OTT :)

I'm a bit surprised that, given how massive it is, there's still obvious folded up panels on the side of the legs; interesting that even with the sort of engineering leeway that comes with such a huge figure, they still couldn't find a way to entirely concertina the planet up into bot mode.

Hasbro is far more concerned about safety and durability than 3Ps are. So no fragile balljoint stems at the base of the fingers, for one, since those would be the first things to shear off if this 20lb mother takes a sudden shelf dive.

Thumb is jointed in two places. There's the swivel, plus the hinge to allow it to tuck into the palm.

If you werent down for it, why gripe about hands? Many of the titan class figures had hollow hands...its fine honeslty!

There will undoubtedly be several upgrade kits released by 3Ps, as soon as this thing hits the streets, but I agree that what is shown as POC is not up to snuff for what they're asking.

I agree. If they'd opened up the campaign with a ninety day window, there would still be issues.

And, yeah, no telling how or what Matty Collector is going to do with their Snake Mountain payment plan. I can't fault Hasbro for not wanting to get into that mess.

I was really enthusiastic about this Unicron piece when it was shown...I'm ok with the price tag (though I must admit that was a hard pill to swallow initially but I quickly got through that).

    Everything would have went well...

    Till...

I saw him next to Titan Class Fort Max.

That's when I had to say no. (He's too small in that aspect)
