This toy is amazing. If I was in a different income bracket, I would probably buy it. I\'ll stick to my $10 Unicron from the Target clearance rack in 2004.

    Here lies Billy
    Looking pretty silly
    He has no more feeling
After hanging Uni from the ceiling
    And 'Cron crushed his head.

Pretty sure this is a 3d printed prototype.

That... Wouldn't change anything. It would still mean the figure's CAD was designed with visibly hollow sections that would be present in the final toy.

Wow, that looks cool. But still no place for big Transformers.

If that's the case, the prototype looks nothing like the renders and is decidedly far shittier. My guess is that prototype is about as finalized as those 3D renders. Which is to say, not at all.

In one day roughly we hit 1000 backers! I think that’s a good pace.

not really, there are just as many reports of bad takara qc, people are just blinded by their preferences. theyre all made in the same factories, by the same people.

Regardless of when the announcement is made, it’s going to take them over a year to do this. It doesn’t move into production unless it backed. So announcing it at NYCC would just mean it’s be a year and a half from that date before it’s ready.

I hear you. On the flip side, if I had to choose between Unicron or food, Id probably be thinking about moving to a place that better fits my budget and doesnt leave me broke after the rent. Im not criticizing any collectors that have families to feed. I get that. But for me personally, if I had kids I probably would have just given up collecting and moved to a less expensive hobby for my free time like sports or video games. Not knocking anybody, just saying...

Not to be a downer (I hope this gets made), but I thought it would be more.

I guess my assumption is that most of the people who are willing to pay that much would sign up immediately. In other words, why would someone wait til day 26 or 9 or 12? Maybe they’re trying to get the money together, but at this price point, I’m not sure how many ‘late adopters’ will emerge.

It’s not like someone seeing a review for Siege Jetfire, then deciding to spend $80 based on that. This requires a commitment of $600 up front, before any review or evaluation.

    We'll see!

    Well, yeah.

We've got about a month and a half to decide if we feel this is worth it. And maybe part of that will include Hasbro having a production copy (or close to it) on display at SDCC.

I wish this had more of a down payment/payment plan rather than straight up $600. That's a LOT to ask for upfront for something that may be delayed multiple times. But *drool*
