I'd rather buy a massive Micro-Master play set.

Unicron is nice, but he has no interactivity with the smaller bots, imo. If I display something this large, I'd like to be able to put stuff on it, or around it.

I see this figure as a prize piece in many collections... but he will be displayed alone (or require massive spending on custom figure stands!).

Further, I question whether or not this SHOULD be your prize piece, as he's really not the face of TF.

I'm just throwing these counterarguments out there: think about whether or not you really want this piece, or if you're just tempted by its exclusivity.  The price isn't the problem (it's like buying 3 Titans and 1 Leader in 2 years time - basically 1 more Titan than you might normally buy). I see this as an item with a lot of buyer's remorse, or a lot of false justification for getting it.

That said, if it's on your wish list and you go for it, I can't wait to see what you do with your display! :)  I also can't wait to see if collectors really have enough space for this, or what kind of display shelving/cabinets they buy for this.

I’ve only been getting pre-movie and BW MP’s lately, but damn if this isn’t tempting regardless. At the moment I’m a no, but I’ll have to think a bit about it as the window closes. Would have rather had a large Ark model, but this is a good alternative.

Yesterday I was pretty hyped, I've figured out the numbers and how much overtime I'll need to work in order to afford this thing, I'll need to hit about 30 hours overtime to pay for Unicron after California takes their pound of flesh. But at this point excitement is waning and the realization that I could get pretty much EVERY other Transformer I want with that amount of money is setting in. It looks amazing, I'd like to have it, but I'm not sure I want it $620 bad (roughly what it will cost me after tax).

So does anyone have any thoughts on how you are going to display it? With your other titan class or off on it's own?
Planet mode or robot mode? What figures do you plan on displaying with it? Any speculation on included extras? I am hoping for a transforming Dead End. What are you guys hoping for?

Personally I am going for planet mode with BW Neo Blendtrons arranged in front. Likely on the top shelf of a detolf using the stand... but I'll have to see what that will look like as I do not currently own a detolf. I do not have much G1 to display it with... but I have always wanted a Unicron and this seems like the one to get rather than backtracking that Armada mold.

I wish Haslab had some Kickstarter type features, like a tier for fans to chip in a few bucks just to help it get made (with supporter name listed on website as a backer reward), some lower level tiers for maybe prints and t-shirts and maybe some higher end tiers for fans like signed merch, chat with designers, visit Hasbro, be a Hasbro intern for a day, etc. Would also have liked to see stretch goals if the initial funding goal is hit, like voice, sounds, lights, bonus mini figures. Of course the most important thing is to get this bad boy made!

Yeah, I'd suggest people not hang twenty pounds of metal and plastic above their heads like that. Or if they do, at least put it in your will that I get your Unicron after he grants you a Darwin Award.

I have doubts they will hit 8000. Anyone else feel like this was rushed out to generstd hype? Like why not wait til NYCC next year or something where you at least can imagine where youll be at by the time it comes out. Any of us could back this and have a stroke in 14 months, 2 years out is just way too long of a wait. Not to mention the features this guy is lacking for that price. No LED eyes/chest/etc and its still lacking in the deco department. For 600 bucks the guy should be absolutely loaded with paint detail.

I know this probably just an example of an alternative project but, no, a Micromasters playset isn't a great idea. We have... four of those now in Titan form. All of which still depend on being a massive robot at some point to appeal to a larger number of fans.

A playset specific to micromasters will exclude fans who don't collect micromasters at all. Just like if they'd made a Siege sized Ark headquarters. I can't cram MP10 into this because he's two inches too tall. I can't use my Legends because they can't see over the counter tops.

Unicron is Unicron, he is one of the largest robots in the mythos and his size here represents that no matter what type of collection you have.

You want a Siege Unicron, you got it. You want a Legends Unicron, buddy, we have it. You want a titan to square off against Metroplex? Here he is. He may not fit in perfectly with your particular collection, looking at the MP44 "Masterpiece" line... but come on. Do you really think they're going to release a Plus version in 2025?

He's unique in the transformers lore, he does his own thing and he doesn't care if you think his face needs to be white or he has too much detail in his panelling. He's big, ugly and hungry for your wallet.

And that's his interactivity with your collection, a looming presence of ultimate destruction. Just like he's always been portrayed. Expect maybe Prime where he was Vigo the Carpathian for some reason.

If you ever wanted a massive, towering Unicron in your collection, you now have that chance.

As for his size, yep he's tall. So are Metroplex and the like. Can't sell me on the idea that he's too big when we have four figures not three inches shorter at the head and people are still wanting Scorponok.

Yep, he's got a wing span, you'll work around it. Put figures all around his feet. Put some risers in there to overlap his wings... flight stands, string, sticky tack, you've got this. You're smart kids you'll make it work.

You did mention one thing right though. One thing that people seem to forget about the HasLab. It's intended to bring the collection centerpieces to the collectors. Not hot item slightly more expensive than usual playsets intended for birthdays and Christmas.

This is your Transformers figure for a HasLab first effort.

The spikes will probably be made of silicon rubber, which is incredibly durable. I mean, they make kitchen utensils out of the stuff, with the purpose of getting beaten up, and it still lasts for years and years.

Application here being totally different of course. But there's pretty much no risk of it just decaying, sitting on the shelf. Mechanical tearing is another matter entirely, so no rough storage, and don't put him right up to a heating element of any sort (although the plastic is just as much at risk in that case).

Definitely not hanging him or putting him on top of a Detolf. I don’t want to be that guy in the news that accidentally got killed by an XL Transformer

That's every Transformer, if you care about long-term shelf life, so that goes without saying.

Anyone else bugged that this figure has visible hollowness in his hands (and possible elsewhere we haven't seen) given the price point? I don't care if it's hollow, I just don't want to see the hollowness

I realy don't think it's being nitpicky on my part.

I think everything we have both said goes for any collectible, not just Transformers. I was mostly just pointing out the sun damage/fading danger, for those that are thinking of this thing as an investment.
