Not sure if y'all found this after this got posted, but we are totally getting a three-pack. (Image from the Teletraan-1 thing on Hasbro.com!)
I do keep a budget I update every week. I have a certain amount of spending I allot myself for Transformers, so I just searched for that tag in my records... I've spent $1800 on Transformers so far this year. I did a deeper dive, and I am including all Transformers TCG expenses in that too, so that made me feel a bit better, but I'd still like to reign it in so I can spend some money on other things for the rest of the year. Just thought I'd share since the question was asked.
That's insane, but honestly, I find the fact you can track all of that so easily very cool. I just use Google Sheets for my budgeting!
In response to the question of who else we could get in the Commander Class if it were made a once a year ting, as a Unicron Trilogy kid I would just like to throw down the gauntlet to Hasbro and the world at large by saying C O M M A N D E R C L A S S T I D A L W A V E. ...You\'re welcome. PS: I don\'t care if it\'s not G1, I just got the original a couple months ago after lusting after it since I was in the 8-11 age range and I am so happy with it/curious to see what one with modern engineering can be like and my wallet can\'t take 3rd party prices so this boy is going to DREAM, DAMN IT!
Yeah looking closer it's a result of 4 boxes of transformers wave 2 and 3 ($85*8) plus catching up on all the Beast Wars masterpiece stuff ($110+70+270+300) add in my siege stuff and some other MP/3P stuff this year and I let my budget get away from me a bit. But the ability to check and correct is nice. And I use Google sheets too!
On the topic of the fort max, could it be that it just wasn’t the right character? I already have the perfect effect IDW Fort Max, I don’t need another. Especially one that’s too big. I’m the target audience for that kind of thing, they just need to pick different characters. What about the rest of the DJD? I’d crowdfund that since MMC doesn’t seem to want to do it. What about the actual main character from the comic? Rung? Skids? I don’t understand why they only want to touch the tangential characters rather than the main cast.
Jetfire is so cool even my wife doesn’t roller her eyes at him as he sits on my nightstand for evening fiddling around with.
Thanks so much for answering all my questions guys!! You provided me with some great discussion on my way to my summer classes. Never meant for my questions to be such a process though In the future I'll submit one at a time. Cheers!!
Having an actual contained transformation makes Supermax categorically superior for my tastes, makes him nicely apples and oranges to the (surprisingly old, now that I checked the year) Perfecteffect piece. PM me on here!
Sure, and this one did look great. In the end I talked myself out of buying this guy as I just didn’t feel like i should be buying another figure of this character as much as I wanted it. I already have at least four different versions of fortress max and I should be more careful with my money (though I never am). I could see myself buying another IDW fort max if the main cast of that comic were made and the new max scaled better, but there’s not been even a hint of Chromedome, skids, ratchet, nautica, trailbreaker, or any of the other main cast members that I feel need to be made before IDW fort max gets another toy. Usually I buy something just because I want to experience the engineering and feel of a piece and a figure like this would normally qualify, but I really should be more careful with money on something high priced like this and character choice feels like a good excuse in my mind.
I\'m imagining \"Decepticon Shockwave\" became a thing because \"shockwave\" is a plain English word, and someone in Hasbro\'s legal department decided that they couldn\'t defend it as a trademark.
I'm actually feeling better about the flying plank transformers. Why? Because I own one of those Optimus pens from forever ago. They're basically the same thing, except ashamed about it.
I apologize for commenting so late on this one, I have been behind on listening. I loved the question where you discussed “feeling too old” to buy transformers. I 100% went through a phase in high school where I tried to hide my collecting habits. I didn’t start buying transformers again until 2006 or so, but I was buying Marvel figures. I definitely caught some flak for being into that kind of stuff. As an adult, I haven’t been bothered by what people think, but I do have one story that always makes me smile. A few years ago, I was in my local (now closed) Toys R Us. I was looking at Transformers and a child saw me and said to his mother, “why is that man buying toys?” To which she responded “I don’t know, he must be weird.” I responded with a bold face lie of “actually, I’m buying this for my nephew...who has cancer. And might not make it.” The woman apologized profusely to me, almost to the point where I wanted to tell her the truth, but I think she learned a lesson haha. Like you said, there a people who are heavy into sports, I don’t judge. To each their own.
