Shame we're not gonna see more Bryan Cranston as Zordon...unless they're gonna do the cast change sentai-style and just change out the rangers but keep him around?

    We can dream, can't we?

Bryan cranston wasn't a bad choice to play Zordon, i wish Hasbro could at least keep him again.

He was only in it because he was itching to be in a comic book movie and that was all he could get.

Though, ironically, IIRC one of his first live action roles was in Power Rangers.

EDIT: Nope he been in stuff since the 80’s. Damn.

He did play a part in power rangers though- think it was just some voices for monsters, but he said a\round the time to movie was coming out it was like a full circle thing for him an he’s always enjoyed the show and working on it.
But yeah he’s been in Seinfeld an everything

Oh yeah I wasn’t saying he wasn’t. I was just correcting my comment about that being his first live action role.

I think Bryan Cranston had more ties with the franchise than another actors from the movie.

I heard that the only reason why Amy Jo Johnson returned for the Turbo movie in 1997, and for the new one in 2017, was because of a contract with Shuki Levy.

Bryan Cranston has many ties to Power Rangers. He's like the "Harrison Ford" of the original cast. The one guy that managed to break off from the rest and do greater things by himself, star in hit shows and Hollywood blockbusters, deliver masterful performances, become a household name. He voiced the monsters Snizzard and Twin Man on the original show and his last name was utilized for Billy's last name, Cranston. Him playing Zordon was a welcomed addition to that history. I have no problems with him being further involved with future Power Rangers stuff. He's always welcome.

Billy was my favorite character as a kid from the original, but now I'm being referred to Billy from the movie.

I really liked this movie's Billy. It was a pretty accurate and relatable depiction of an autistic person. He was a pretty cool guy. I'm going to miss him the most after Hasbro's reboot.

Honestly, despite how we collectively groaned over the "troubled teen" drama as shown in the first trailer, it was honestly the best part of the movie, watching the kids all come together over their various hardships and actually bond over it, compared to the "birds of a feather" goody-goodies of the original series. There was way more chemistry with the team as a result.

Yea, the robot stuff was shit. (Mainly their designs.) But, the Power Rangers themselves, were great.

The Zord and Goldar designs were so bad that I came to the conclusion that even Turbo was a better Power Rangers movie.

Well, the designs are only cosmetics, I can ignore the designs if the rest of the movie is good. The cast alone in this film keeps it being entertaining.

While the designs were certainly not the greatest, I think the film's major failing is that Hollywood just simply doesn't do "hot-blooded" the way that the Japanese know how to. Apart from the savvy fans knowing that it's going to happen, there's no real build-up to the Megazord happening. There's little foreshadowing of its great power, and its genesis is just sort of this "okay, they're big now" moment, instead of watching it unfold onscreen in a long and drawn-out process that really makes you appreciate its artistry. There's no real "pushed to the brink/darkest hour" moment that heralds its arrival and makes you root as the heroes turn the tides.

It was honestly a bigger moment just watching them suit up for the first time. The Zords were just weightless mayhem.

Honestly, a quick rewrite, and I think one could just remove them all together, and just have the Power Rangers fighting normal size monsters together. And, it'd pretty much remain the same story.

Which is the biggest problem with the movie. The Zords really don't have that much to do with the movie. Which their designs really say what it all. That they really didn't care at all about the Zords. They were just there because they were there in the shows. And, everyone expected them to be there. That's really how they look too. Just, thrown out, because. Just did as an after thought.

Honestly, that's not that far removed from how the Zords are in the series as well. They only get hauled out because the monster arbitrarily got big. But of course, the point is to try to be better than the cheap, formulaic, Japanese kids' show.
