Batman has two different origin stories in this continuity, other details are left blank; the details of this continuity are picked from multiple past ones and don't really stop two pre-existing Questions coming back with altered, vague histories. Continuity is more of a guideline, that can create interesting stories and frustrating situations so I just like to choose whatever stories I enjoy. I'm trying to keep this short because I keep getting pedantic about opinions, and restraining myself from self-deprecating jokes to make sure that you know I know what an opinion is, and I'm holding back a seperate paragraph about how continuity is best used in a story and even this whole sentence shouldn't exist but if it doesn't I won't hit post anytime soon.

So to recap; opinions exist, continuity is an illusion.

All I can say is that they're self-indulgent because the editors at DC allow them to be.

Continuity is an illusion in the same way that magic is an illusion. But magicians don't purposely draw attention to the fact that what they're doing is fake. Entertainment is about giving an audience an illusion they can believe in, even if only while they're experiencing it.

Aside from any questions of continuity, making Montoya the Question (again!) is an absolute waste of Montoya (again).

Isn't Vic now some ancient dude that had his identity wiped from him because he helped humanity or something?

They’ve ignored that information since the beginning of Rebirth. Now he’s back to being the memorable detective again. I’m surprised though Phantom Stranger hasn’t made an appearance for a while...

Anyway, Event Leviathan #2 was fun to read. Much better than issue #1. A hint of action, some new information, moving the plot forward and interesting to see why the team of detectives (plus Damian) suspect
    Red Hood
as Leviathan, and the art is great. Now I’m interested in seeing how he clears his name (because I’m very doubtful he would be the suspect).

The Question should be a whole team, anyway.

    The Question
    The Interogative
    Inquisition (who no one expects...)
    Quizzling
    1990's version: Third Degree
    Axe Man
    Catechism
    ...and Probey, their dog.

It's not hard, DC --you used to be able to do legacy characters.

I've decided to read Manhunter (2004 - 2009) since this particular incarnation of the character is making an appearance in Event Leviathan. I'm liking it so far.

I guess so. It was just a zombie universe with DC characters.

I could have sworn Snyder promised his final Batman project was going to be the one that's coming out right now. Batman: Last Knight on Earth.

    Snyder did promise that.

Looks like the loophole here is it's an Azrael as Batman story, not a Bruce as Batman story.

"I said 'Last Knight on Earth' would be my last, ever Batman story, but I never said anything about not writing any more stories about characters in Batman's world! Ha ho!"

I thought the Dark Multiverse was meant to partially be a parody of shitty edgelord fanfic ideas that should never happen.

If we're getting stories set entirely in the Dark Multiverse then I guess DC doesn't see it that way.

Although technically, Last Knight on Earth isn't a Bruce story, either. It's a clone story.
