For those torn with MP Optimus 3.0 and wanting to back this; The crowdfund for the largest most articulated Unicron (and the biggest Transformer figure) ever ends permanently on August 31st whether it succeeds or not. MP Optimus meanwhile will still be there when he finally becomes available. I know some of you have already pre-ordered Prime but for people who hasn't yet you can still get him later while Unicron is a thing that will never happen again unless you're willing to pay $1000+ for the aftermarket price two years down the line. I don't know about you, but in 2 years time I'd probably be done collecting Transformers since hopefully by then Hasbro won't surprise me yet again.

I'm definitely backing this, but I'm waiting to pay my bills the end of this month and Otakon before making the plunge.

It\'s not a question of can I afford it, it\'s a question of can I justify it?

I\'d like more plat features for that pprice tag, for example, it be great if he could eat Prime Masters, had a throat leading to a stomach cavity etc.

Be great if it included Titan master sized versions of the movie cast for him to interact with and itd be great if planet mode could open up into a playset reminiscent of the inside of Unicron etc.

I suppose there could be more features yet to be revealed.

Yea that's the main sticking point for me. I can't afford to tie up that much money for 2 years with no ROI.

My guess is the risk of people dropping out of making the payments.

How does this crowdfunding work? I mean let's say it's not greenlit, does everybody get their 600 bucks back?

Guy I work with ordered a sail barge just for that reason. He’s out today but I know he’ll be in on this when he finds out. I backed the barge for two reasons. 1) I felt the first project needed to be successful or we’d never get this. 2) Aftermarket.

Fair point, but at 8,000 people? Combine that with many projects are initially released on a per figure basis ($100 each).

True, the big difference here being it's all in one shot, whereas 3P combiners can be bought piece by piece.

This is awesome. I'm undecided on buying it. I have no complaints based on the pics EXCEPT I wish everything that's painted silver-- face, hands, chest, feet-- were white. Silver paint almost always looks cheap to me. If that small deco change were made I'd be, like, 30% more certain of purchasing.

That would be cool if they had a second deco option for white.

The paranoid collector in me thinks they're leaving this open to other releases down the road. If I remember right, a big talking point for the Sail Barge campaign was that it was a one time deal. I don't see any language like that anywhere on the Unicron page. I'm sure we'll get more info at SDCC.

3P combiners are allso 5-6 individual toys, and are impacted by being made by a small team with limited funds.

Admittedly, if I was well enough off to do that, I would. However, the question remains, how many transformers fans are out there who can both afford and who are interested in what honestly is more display piece than toy.

Yeah, at most he should be 300 but still 575 is bullshit for a Unicron when its going to release in a little over a month. For a Primus I can see 350 if he were bigger than Unicron even then thats pushing it. in my opinion

why did I talk about Primus, the world may never know

Plastic is not so expensive. I marked my limit.

I understand this is perfect version of Unicron, but this is just too much.

Same, I can see Unicron actually selling in a 200-300 range but the 575 they chose is ridiculous

Because they always were on his shoulders.

I think if they included China in this, it would be no problem. But with just North America...
