8,000 backers at $575?! That's insane, that's more than the Star Wars Haslab project ($400 at 5,000 backers) and they bothered to show the reverse angle of that toy! Look at all those shell parts around his legs and on his back.

The money is going into weight, you're not getting some weight-savings Fort Max, I guess. But damn!

If only they took payment plans for us collectors on a budget. I'd be all in.

Super7 has an installment service they subcontract out to for a small additional fee. It's not as good as paying cash for it, or not minding putting 575 dollars on it (I have other expenses, not to mention 3.O Prime is releasing in late August). I barely covered my DX Combattler V, and I had time to plan for that, 575 by August is cutting it close.

I wonder what most people'll do with it, because it has a lot of the design elements of a main line toy but given the weight and size it's nearly impossible to play with and will require an absurd amount of space to transform.

As a pauper living up north in Beaverland™, these will be my takeaway from this thread; meeting someone one day who will condone/support my absurd interests (whether in earnest or in the this-is-so-insane-you-have-to-buy-it kind of way).

I couldn't possibly entertain buying this without winning the lottery first, and even then I have other things I'd want to spend that money on beforehand. I'll just look for the YouTube videos in a few years and admire it from afar.

This is being released three years away. I don’t believe that is reasonable, to tie money up that far in advance. This window is too short as well. It should be at least a two year funding period.

The 8000 backers has me concerned. I don’t know if the Transformers Fandom has that amount willing to drop $600.

This is something I've wanted since I was probably about 5 years old. It is also probably the closest analog to something I just assumed existed at that age lol.

That said, the timetable we're given is a bit of a bummer. I wish they had announced this with a few more months lead time before the campaign actually started. As it stands, it's running way too close to MP Prime 3.0 and even THAT is starting to feel like an excessive purchase. I'm definitely not in the mood to drop a grand on Transformers in August, especially when I won't see one of them for like a year.

While this IS the coolest thing Hasbro "has" put out in a long time . . . Why does it have to be big? It's not going to scale with ANY transformers product out there, so why couldn't it be more compact? With more of the money going into the engineering as opposed to this balance between scale and engineering.

I remember buying Armada Unicron for $50 and thinking: "Man, this is a lot of money. Well, only for Unicron I guess."

    I was a fool.

Does it really NEED to be that big? I thought the Armada version of Unicron had a size that was just fine. It’s not going to scale anyway with any figures, so the excessive size really seems, well, excessive. I realize I’m not the only one saying this, but...

Do I like Unicron? Yeah! Do I “$600 like” Unicron? Uh....

Not to mention that this isn't really the most popular time for Transformers. We always see a surge of interest with a new movie, but right now things are very collector focused.

Gonna pass on this; as good as it looks, Unicron was never a character I had THAT much love for. Not nearly $600 worth of love.

But hey Hasbro, let me know when you crowd-fund a $600 Gigundo-class USS Flagg/Broadside triple changer.

That would be great, but they're probably afraid of people making an initial payment and then canceling, thereby causing Hasbro to lose money by having a bunch more made than were paid for.

Make me wonder why they don't offer financing, haha.

That would only be 30-35 USD until its release!
