Except most of those Emmys were only in the 'animation' category.

It won the writing Emmy for animation only once. And that was for S1. Everything after S1 is where the bullshit just keeps piling up and you know what the show stopped winning after 2011? The writing Emmy. Additionally, the 2013 and 2014 Emmys it won were exclusively just 'Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation'.

The animation is love it or hate it - I found it boring and the CGI did not justify how freakin' barren a city looked, among every other enviroment in the show - but the biggest issue with the writing before anything else, and you know what your 'but it won emmys!' excuse doesn't cover for the portion of the show everybody critical of Prime has issues with? THE PISS POOR WRITING.

It was middle for me. I was not impressed with its animation but its soundtrack was good especially the opening theme. it had some cool concepts like Unicron being Earth, their take on soundwave I like him more as a stealth jet then a tape deck or a SUV. their take on Predaking was also good I enjoyed his arc. was it perfect no it was not was it the most horrible sin against the fandom some fans make it out to be also no.

I agree with everything Autobot Burnout said. However, I still like Prime because I have good memories of watching it back in the day.

On a production level: it’s not great.

On a personal level: Muh nostalgia

Though I did enjoy Prime, it's definitely flawed and a bit of a disappointment.

Polyogn has doing a great job. I wish Hasbro could work with them many times.

It was essentially just like every other Transformers series: It had its good parts and its bad.

Season 1 was pretty solid, and side from the problems with Optimus being made a far-too-serious messiah figure with no depth beyond his gloriously honorable bearing of the burden of being god-king-savior of all sentient life in the universe. It had nostalgic voices in Cullen and Welker, supporting characters that were more fleshed out than we normally get, humans who weren't totally annoying, decent animation and production design, made about the best that it could of having to piggyback off of the divisive character design of the Bayformers movies, and even managed to run with some alternate characterizations that I though were fun and interesting (it carried on the Animated tradition of making Ratchet the crusty, weary medic. and it did something with Arcee beyond her just being "the girl bot". one could even argue that doing something with Smokescreen at all was intriguing even if he just was more or less the world's most thinly veiled Hot Rod substitute.). It also managed to have one of the better human/transformer partnership stories in Arcee/Jack and did some mildly experimental but fun concept episodes (as a horror-inspired story, Predatory was a lot of fun with some great creepy visuals to boot)

but it had problems when the budget was apparently slashed, nixing characters and dropping storylines with little fanfare, and seemingly sending the production staff into panic mode and trying (badly) to scramble and piece something together out of the broken remains of whatever plans they might have had.

Also the pacing was generally garbage.

In the end it's still a decently watchable show and I personally rank it in the top half of Transformers series, especially ones that I've watched the majority or entirety of. I would gladly watch it over most of the quartet of anime series from the early 2000s or Headmasters, for example.

Prime wasn't that bad. It's not as good as shows like Beast Wars and Animated, but at least the humans are likeable and the fight scenes are awesome.

It suffers from trying too hard to be more "dark" and "mature." Shows like Beast Wars and Animated do a very good job of handling those themes, while Prime acts more like an edgy teenager.

I don't think Prime is the worst thing ever, but I certainly don't think it's great. I feel like Prime was 99% animation. If Prime had RID2015-level animation, I almost guarantee it would be viewed as worse than RID 2015.

The story just wasn't there. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything spectacular, and there was no unique hook that made Prime stand out (at least RID2015 had the premise of the crashed prison ship, which was fresh). There were some fun standalone stories, but the overall picture left a lot to be desired. The characters didn't really progress, and were mostly limited to basic personalities. The human cast was cluttered, there were probably too many kids. They didn't have distinct roles or purposes in the story. They probably should have been cut down to one or two (maybe a brother and sister). The show promised "darkness", but failed to deliver death and consequences after the first few episodes. It feels almost like a rough draft for a show. Even the design aesthetic was just...weird. The plain noseless faces (especially Optimus's). The over-detailed jagged designs. The repetitive transformation schemes. The lack of any body-types besides "humanoid light, medium, or bruiser". It's honestly become one of my least-favorite visual styles in the brand, it's just so samey.

I was all over Prime when I first discovered it at age 17 back in 2013. It was a neat brand rejuvenation for someone who was probably outgrowing something like the G1 cartoon. I have to give it props for having a more cinematic style and cooler action than most of the other cartoons. But in hindsight, it's a shame they didn't push the show further. It could have been a fantastic show if they had worked with these ideas more, but comes across feeling half-baked.

The show was good at the most. I’d personally rank it behind Animated.

I personally loved the action, the performances, and the animation. But the writing never reached its fullest potential. I think we can blame Hasbro for that...

Maybe if the show got a longer duration maybe it could’ve done more.

But ultimately, looking back on it, I still enjoy watching the show.

Overall excellent imo. Problems but no more than any other high quality series. I'd strongly argue it's capable of ousting BW once you remove the nostalgia factor.

Last I checked, wasn't Prime considered one of the three best Transformers shows, along with Beast Wars and Animated?... did I miss something?

Prime's biggest problem to me was it didn't try to have fun like Animated or Beast Wars. The characters were likable, but few were memorable.

that's what I thought to until I cam here. before than the only major source of dislike I knew of came from a channel called Aeon Magnus or Aeon Convoy now.

I view it as no better or worse than any other series. The more objectively I look at the different shows we've had so far, the more I realize none are perfect and none are absolute garbage.

Except the Prime Wars trilogy. Fuck those...

Looks like you have some required reading to do because Prime was revealed to have been nothing but a complete shitshow behind the scenes from day one.

Aligned Continuity panel at TF Con Charlotte

Prime can't even compare to Beast Wars because BW at least has rock solid writing and characters that it has to fall back onto because while the ancient CGI manages to still look okay with its antiquated look being its own style at this point, the plot is absolutely incredible (Code of Hero is one of the most famous episodes of any TF series ever for a reason), and introduced numerous concepts that form the backbone of all TF lore like Sparks.

Prime instead spent most of its time pissing around about useless junk left over from the Great War as 'relics', Megatron couldn't maintain an advantage for more than three episodes before the Autobots managed to restore the status quo, there were TWO GODDAMN CLIP RECAP SHOWS IN THE SECOND SEASON, and the most important thing that seemed to ever happen in the show was Miko pressing a goddamn button like that was somehow some amazing feat only a human could pull off.

lol all you have to do is go around a few places, finding people critical of Transformers Prime isn't that hard.
