Sorta the same...? Though, honestly, while people need to be responsible for their own persons, the internet just replaced the TV as raising people for bad, disconnected parents. The 70s and 80s were rife with people who had no calling to be parents and their kids are no better, really.

There are some millennials that really do have it rough, others are straight up weirdos. Video games have been an issue of sorts since their inception, the internet merely made it all more accessible and parents are like "well, at least he's not sleeping around and doing drugs..."

Someone's always passing the buck, which is why the current generation is passing it.

We destroy what we make. People and later generations included.

I enjoyed the season, but I didn't love it.

I know David Harbour/Hopper has been doing movies and whatnot, so it makes sense that they leave him dead on paper, with options to come back; that way if he wants out or isn't available, they can leave him dead, and if he wants to continue, he can be brought back.

Yikes that is horrible! I imagine how terrified they must have been. And I guess Hurt was told to keep quiet about it.

Yeah, sadly, directors can be horrible people. Ever see The Shining? Shelly Duvall is not actually acting...perse. As you watch the film, you see her descend into literal madness. It looks like fantastic acting and she used to be a fantastic actress, but the tears and fear are real because the director, Stanley Kubrick, made her redo the scenes over and over again, one of them involving 121 takes. (No, I'm not joking, he literally made her redo the same scene 121 times until he felt she got it right.) It broke her, emotionally, mentally, etc. She had a small resurgence of a career post Shining era, but went on to host a kids show to get away from those memories and it didn't help.

She's recently been on Dr. Phil talking about hearing voices, having panic attacks, basically anything remotely close to schizophrenia-like issues...she's having them. She's gone through the wringer. All the directors have to do is let their actors actually act. It's what they hired them for in the first place. Spielberg tormented the little boy in Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind. The smiles were from crew members doing silly things to make him smile (because he was 2 and 3 during the filming) and took away his teddy bear, among other things, to elicit cries, etc.

    Hollywood's a mess, we're enablers.

Finished the season. Loved it. Loved Bauman's code name of Bald Eagle. The Neverending Story theme bit had me rolling. This series knows how to work everything. Great horror suspense, great action, and love the comedy. Kids are great and love the horrid fashions. Although i did like El's stuff from the mall. That actually looked like cool 80s wear. But the guys stuff was ugly as sin. Short shorts and ugly tops. Did like some of Dustin's things.

Erica was a hilarious pain in the ass. Hopper was gold. THREE INCHES!! The russain needs to be the rebooted Terminator. Gives Arnie a run for his money in the big scary guy dept.

Finally picked up BD of Season 2 today. $10 at Target.

Exactly. The reason it seemed safer was you didn't have the 24 hr news cycle. You had evening news and national news. You didn't have constant access to news of missing kids. But people ignore the data. Most kidnappings and such are by family members or close friends of the family, not creepy guy in van. Plus today we have cell phones. If i had a kid, and he was a tween/early teen like the kids here, I'd be fine with letting him run around. Just check in now and then. Trust your kids if you can.

Probably dr brenner. He was teased last season as still being alive and would explain how the Russians knew about the upside down

    I hope it's not
    Hopper
. That would be kind of lame, since...
...they gave him such a good arc and heart-felt send off with that last episode.

Fun fact: Stacy Ferguson was my first official 'celebrity' crush when I was a kid.

I remember being totally blown away when I found out she was Fergie around 25 years later. And then I felt ill knowing that's the trainwreck she turned out to be. It's still makes me sad when I think about.

I think they have one more season in 'em, not two. After the first season, hearing they could go to five was all "YES! PLEASE!" but after seeing two (episode 7 is the most incredibly bad piece of TV in recent, if not ever, history) and feeling like something was lacking... I'm not sure they have the stamina. Season three surprised me, I'll be honest, it was excellent but you can tell fatigue is setting in.

It was bad enough that the government inadvertently opened the portal and they left Eleven's existence on the line. It went into ridiculous territory that Hopper hid her long enough for her hair to grow back a good bit, that the Mind Flayer somehow possessed Will, even though he hadn't been prior. They not only defeated the Mind Flayer, but they well and truly closed the portal and sealed off the Upside Down, permanently. Granted, I know it was the Russians who opened the gate this time, which is plausible considering the timeframe, but seriously? It worked out, in the end with solid writing, but how many times can they go back to this well? Plus, the Demogorgon being in the basement of a Russian prison? Really? I mean, sure, it's from when they opened the portal and something got out, but really? And I certainly hope it IS Hopper in that jail cell. I understand people want him to remain dead for his character arc to be "complete" but let's face it... He was really always a hero, deep down, he just needed the right push to become what he had by the end. He was a good father, twice. He would've been GREAT to Joyce. It could've been a more humor filled final season with him ruling the roost and growing closer to ALL of the kids. He doesn't need to stay dead, nor does he need to die in the first place. I get that it was a hero's death type of scene, but it wasn't necessary. Not every 80s theme horror or action anything always has to end on a sad note. Sometimes the good guy really DOES win. Ugh. We do know it's confirmed that Harbor is signed on for all seasons and is willing to come back. Considering he was Instagramming the phone number you call at the end, I'm almost 100% certain he's still alive.

This next one, if it's the final one, needs to be a slam-bang winner and it needs to be solid. It also needs to be DONE. They discovered the Upside Down, done. They defeated the Mind Flayer AND sealed the portal, done. They stopped the Russian infiltration a little too late, but still mostly successful, and destroyed the Mind Flayer, done. Other than getting rid of a few Demogorgons and whatever else might be trapped here, I'm not sure what more they can do. I guess the Flayed may somehow exist on the other side and need to be rescued? Or they find a way to cross dimensions because the Flayed were the link and they need to destroy the Upside Down once and for all? I don't know, but there's really nowhere to go after season four. Five might as well just be a sitcom with Hopper and the kids. I'd tune in for gits n' shiggles, but that's about it.

Binged the whole series this week to see what all the fuss was about, and I can definitely see why it’s popular.

All I’m gonna say is that I almost shed a tear at Hopper’s letter. (El and Hopper are my favorite characters).

Hopper dying didn't really make me cry, just feel sad. Then I sat through him reading the speech and I was balling. It makes me sad that he died, but his arc definitely seemed over. Also the stranger things wiki kinda spoiled it for me.
