I think I speak for most people, but I’d much rather have a lower price with zero extras (except for a weapon).

Even with no extras, I think we all agree a Long Live Design Award merits a 10000 Yen bump to every figure in the line.

    A round of applause please!!!

Lio Convoy will be a very easy pass for me. My main gripe is that I just don't like the original character design, it doesn't mesh well with the original Beast Wars. However, I also noticed some objective faults that aren't exactly tied to the character design. This would've probably made me skip purchasing even if I liked the character.
    • Lion snout/mouth is very visible in robot form, looks like they didn't even attempt to hide it by adding in more lion mane panels
    • Arm kibble is just too damn big, it looks bearable in that picture because Lio's arms are straight down but any different poses that arm kibble will stick out in a bad way
    • In beast form, the hinge right on top of the lion head is white whereas all the other pieces around it are gold... it looks like bald spot   (this one for me is nitpicking cause I dont care about beast mode)

Can’t believe we’re going over this again, the lion arms are supposed to be there. That’s where they are on the toy and like 50% of the cartoon at least. It’s a “flaw” that’s directly connected to the character design.

It’s totally fair, I just meant it doesn’t qualify as an objective fault.

Fair. Even though a cleaner look doesn’t currently exist.

@Atomsk criticism wasn't that they are there or not show/toy accurate, they was they they look too big...which to be honest I agree with. If we are going to dismiss or forgive critism becuase it show accurate then it had to...you know...actually be show accurate. I've not seen a screen shot yet where the lion leg kibble looks THIS big.

Sure it can be explained as a limitation of design, it would be hard to shrink them down, but it is a valid critisim all the same.

Never said it wasn’t a valid criticism to prefer them smaller or not be there. It’s all individual preference. I’m just saying the arms are there because that’s how Lio Convoy was designed. Their unfortunate placement wasn’t just a random decision made by the design team.

Yeah I get you but was anyone complaining that they were there? @Atomsk certainly didn't appear to be doing so . You appeared to be bemoaning a repetative complaint that wasn't present, unless I've missed something?

I think it was just the mention of the arms that set me off. We hashed it out over and over like 40 pages ago and it really wore on my nerves. Granted that was weeks ago and it probably wasn’t my place to preface my original statement with a bemoan so I apologize. It’s just that, it’s part of the character model!

    To your silly sarcasm?

    No applause needed or deserved.

Better a fatherly pat on the head, like you do with those small brats who Believe to be super Smart but actually aren't.

It looks a lot more solid. Although now the chest stuff is mildly distracting.

So filling in a bald spot and taking a picture at a slightly different angle suddenly makes the beast mode look good now? Okay... I don't get it. It looks almost exactly the same as before.

Also, I'm not sure why the beast mode was so maligned before while the robot mode was being praised so much. To me, both modes have always looked on par with each other, which is to say mediocre. The emphasis on cartoon accuracy really brought out the detail and character with previous Beast Wars entries, whereas with Lio Convoy this approach is not doing him any favors. I really like the proportions in both modes, and he looks like he will be very posable. However, he really needs more detail, be it sculpted fur or a textured paint technique like with MP-32, he needs something.

I'm almost tempted to get him just so I can apply some sculpted fur details and paint applications myself... but I'm not that crazy.
