Yeah, of all of the repaints of older stuff we could get, I'd definitely put "Delta Magnus" at the top of that list. It's my favorite Diaclone alternate color, and I feel it's superior to the revised color scheme we got in Transformers, though I do still like that as well.

So... ToyCo is still around, right? Do they not own any rights to the original toy anymore? Copying the deco and going so far as to call it "Galactic Man," even... is Hasbro not guilty of trademark infringement, here?

that would depend on the specific trademark and if toy co still had it secured

That's a really good question. I know little of how trademarks work internationally, let alone across decades, but I speculate either ToyCo's trademark has lapsed or else their interest in Transformers these days is low enough for Hasbro to consider "Galactic Man Shockwave" safe to market.

Do you really think a billion dollar company like hasbro is going to steal or infringe someone’s else IP? They’re not some 3rd party group. They have their own lawyers and everything goes through legal red tape. We know this just based on the fact certain characters can’t go by their original names. If they’re doing this it means they legally can.

Well, actually, ToyCo had Astro Magnum trademarked, maybe RadioShack trademarked Galactic Man before their first bankruptcy.

They did the same thing with potp but switched with waves. It’s also just a cardboard box. Future landfill waste

    Still better than Shackwave Forever.
If the Nightbird redeco of Chromia is real, she'll probably be the other number. As interested as I am in that, I'm still hoping for Combat Hero Optimus Prime at some point. Love that red and blue.

The power of '80s kid nostalgic ephemera is STRONG in this one, in that I find myself going "I am heavily interested in this bland gray toy - What the hell is WRONG with me!?" :)

FWIW, I was one of those young'uns who had one of those instead of Transformer Shockwave way back when. I don't think it was actually the official 'Shackwave', but a largely identical separate release or knockoff. Still, it's a potent memory.

I kinda wanna see some 1980s-grade Radio Shack logos on this thing. Get on it Reprolabels! ;)

That's what I'm gonna call him to make him a different character from Shockwave! Thanks for the suggestion!:D
Ohhh, snap, dude! I got to try that once I get him!
Yes, I think I'm gonna leave Galactic Man Shackwave in battleship mode on my shelf!
If fact, I'm willing to pay full price for him, as apposed to Shockwave which I felt was not worth the full cost and was only willing to pick him up only when he was on sale. Funny that I put a much larger value on his repaint than the original deco, despite being just a straight up repaint without any remolding.o_O
 DAAAAMN! How did I not learn this until just your post now?!
There's also a second one in the upper left corner of the pic, in case you missed it.:p ;)

A nice touch. Brings back tons of memories. I had this one and the original shockwave. Someone stole my shackwave but I still have my original shockwave

It's just that ever since Shockwave returned to relative prominence in the franchise, Hasbro and Takara have pointedly avoided the "Galactic Man" deco. There's been what, a dozen Shockwave toys since 2004? And not a "Shackwave" version in the bunch? And now here comes this one, sporting the "Galactic Man" name to boot, and it compels me to wonder if something has changed, legally speaking, in regards to ToyCo's interest in that toy.

Has ToyCo been using that name? If it hasn’t been using it in commerce then any rights it may have had would likely have expired. Moreover, I have my doubts that ToyCo ever registered the trademark (would be easy to find out) or perhaps whether “Galactic Man” is even protectable.

Edit: here you go. I checked on the USPTO website and it looks like the trademark was abandoned: Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)

    They don't.
Thrilling 30, CW and half or TR had Autobot logos and no one seemed to care.
