I'm into it. One I'd especially like it a G1 Knockout.

There's a cool opportunity to have him take on an 80s earth-based alt mode, and that would be a cool enough reason to get him.
His 2010s car has some wild decals on it so they could have fun with his 80s car like that too.

I wouldn't be opposed to the idea but there aren't that many characters I'd want since I generally don't like most post-G1 continuities. The ones I would like are mostly from TF Prime.

    Windblade
Prime Arcee (have to give her a different name since there's already a G1 Arcee but she feels like a different enough character from her namesake)
    Prime Knockout
Prime Breakdown (same as Arcee - new name)
    Prime Airachnid
Prime Skyquake and/or Dreadwing (though there's a G1 Dreadwing so diff name again. Just make him Skyquake and call it good)
    Prime Vehicons
Prime Bulkhead maybe but I doubt I'd buy him

This is exactly how I envision this effort, too. Such a cool opportunity that would allow 3P to flex their creative muscles, while still giving us characters we love!

I'd like to have lockdown, lugnut, and basically all the fembots invented SINCE G1, from thunderblast to windblade.

But that still has the super high tech jet mode. I was thinking an 80's jet

Think of it as a cybertronian mode like Arcee, Blurr, Kup and Springer have.

How does that work with her whole "huge VTOL fans" theme?

They either curl up inside her jet mode or they become the back of her jet engines.

Yeah, Looks cool as ART NOT a FIGURE!!! The don't have details like the chin on his Generations figure which just makes him look fat.

She would make an excellent Harrier! I think Ospreys are too current to meet the "just off screen in the mid-80s G1 cartoon" vibe. The more I think about this idea, the more I like it.

I would love a G1-esque Strong Arm from the new RID. At TFCON Chicago last year, one artist had sculpted a 3D version of her in a non-RID style and it looked so fresh and so cool.

I would love an X-29 version of Slipstream and a remold / modified X-29 for Windblade.

I love the idea of adding characters from other TF media into G1 style.

Starting with Barricade--I hate his Smokescreen-repaint version. I just find it lazy. Don't care what it's based on, made in whatever official-or-otherwise capacity. Being similar to the Prowl/Streak/Screen style, eh--maybe. But we can be a little more creative. Just my opinion.

For Barricade, I'm wanting something along the lines of this:

    (by Dan-the-artguy)

Down to the claw tips (because Scourge could do it, so can he). Definitely have an older model Mustang for his body to match the standard G1 aesthetic, but while the carbots' models are all mid/late 70's or up, I wouldn't go any newer than a 1970 Mustang, and preferably a '68 Mach 1. Trade-off would be that if they're in the '80's, any mods added could be 80's tech (ie: full light bar). If modern day is open, then Salene it is.

Another would be RID Strongarm. I really wanted to see her get a Generations redo with a lot more detail. A large deluxe or current-sized voyager would look good on her.

Some version of Bulkhead that just fits G1. I know the underbite is a bit of a characteristic, but I could do without it. Maybe give him a mask. The up and down movement when he spoke would work.

Movie Sideways, with both wheelblades. No particular style for him comes to mind other than keeping the side windows on his back, but something that brings that character to G1.

There are characters now that are perfect to fit into that G1 continuity by retconning. Roller, Bulkhead, Slipstream , Barricade... etc.

Also man I love watching Bobby Skullface's videos... just a great dude and he deserves more followers. I love Peaugh BaltMatrix and Emgo too but Bobby deserves as many subs as other youtubers.

As much as I would live to see G1 expanded with new, original characters and retconned characters, I just don't think the market is there. We've seen one release to market with Badcube's Captain Huffy, and although I personally love it, I'm not sure how well it was received in general or how well it sold... it just seemed to get almost entirely ignored upon release, which is a shame.

There have also been a couple of aborted attempts or non-starters, like that Matrix Prime VW Camper 'bot which disappeared completely after several different 3D printed prototypes had already been produced, and the member Iskander (here) already pitched the following G1 Barricade to several 3P companies a few years back, but was told by them they didn't think it would sell that well:
G1 Barricade animation model 2.0 (1).jpg Masterpiece Barricade alt mode.jpg

I'd love to see characters like Lugnut, RID Breakdown and Nitro Zeus get G1 reimaginings, and especially this Blackout:
    eeff776052159bc33252ff72f31498f1.jpg

I've even asked here if there'd be an appetite for full size MP versions of the micromasters characters, as that opens the door for dozens more figures, but people weren't interested in that either. I don't get it... who wouldn't want a MP 'bot that turns into a DeLorean, Pontiac Firebird or Lockheed Martin Blackbird?

Unfortunately too much of the fandom seems completely constrained by the limited scope of their nostalgia for the cartoon and a complete lack of imagination for this idea to really take off, which is a shame in so many ways.
