I haven't used them myself but I know they're used in the 3d printing community and one bit of free modelling software (Tinkercad) includes an Arduino emulator so you can test programming without messing with wiring - See Here.

@Insurgent When depression first reared its ugly head for me, it manifested in all sorts of ways that weren't feeling sad or down. I'd recommend speaking to your GP, or look for local mental health services. There's a lot that can be done to help get a handle on things. And as others have said, DMs are open.
