I finally sat down this evening and figured out how to get into the head. I haven't done any more than that because I need to think on what exactly I want to do. Definitely the eyes, but I may paint the face white. I have lukewarm feelings about the chrome but I'm not sure about white either. Maybe a very light gray....

I should have taken pictures before I put it back together but didn't think to.

On the right side of his head, the little disk on his helmet comes off. Mine needed a little persuasion but it still went back on and isn't coming off on me. Anyway, the disk on the right side of the head is the only one that comes off. There's a screw behind it. Once you undo that screw, the head sort of unstacks from the right side. The front part of the helmet is split down the middle. You can pull that off after the screw is out and then you see the insides of the head. One warning is that there's a spring inside. I hadn't noticed since I have only put the battle mask on once, but the square panel over his face is on a spring, so when you put the battle mask on it has a part that slides into that square. That's why it's got a spring behind it so that it automatically slides back to be flush when the mask is off. The spring bounced out at me when I removed the face but I luckily didn't lose it. The light piped eyes re just slivers by the time you get to the face.

Anyway, the left half of the helmet has a post that goes through the neck to the screw you removed on the right side. That post holds the head to the neck and also holds the back of the head on. So you can slide the left half of the head out and that frees up the back.

Hope that's clearer than it sounds, but the gist of it is, you start from the right side of his head not the left. That's the only disk that can be popped off and that's where you find the screw that lets you take the rest of the head apart.

I wonder how wide a release this will get at retail. It's hard to imagine seeing more than 1 or 2 of these at Target or Walmart.

Sorry, I’m a bit slow. When you say right side, do you mean his right side, like if you were him or do you mean your right side when you are looking at him face to face? I attacked the disks on both sides with a spludger to no avail.

Taking a closer look, I may see some glue residue on the little block that slots in there but it wasn’t enough on mine to keep it in. It didn’t take so much force I was afraid of breaking it. YMMV

 

I got my Springer from Amazon yesterday.
It's a great looking figure, but his ankles suck shit.
Had to wedge in some extra pieces to the back side of his feet, to keep his weak ankles from giving and having him constantly toppling over backwards.
