This. Take a year, take in the world, see what floats your boat and then find a major that fits it. You'd be surprised how many people put themselves on the wrong path and end up with a major that doesn't pay much at all. Those that do: Medical, Technology (and not every aspect/facet). Those fields, right now, are the two that'll help you build a long term career that'll help you and help others. Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, Doctor, Specialist, even Dentist... All of those will net you far more than you make now. Technology, some don't even have to go to school to master it. My cousin never went to college or any kind of school past 12th grade and he pulls down at least $120-130k a year. He's got the know-how, the drive, and he makes it work. His father, always delusions of grandeur and always treading water and can't figure out how it keeps crashing all around him. (Also a tech enthusiast.) Regardless, so see the world first, then go to college/university. Don't jump from the pan into the fire because your parents are telling you to.
College is also a way for dumb people to get into positions that they've no business being in. It is not a good measure of competence. It's just a jumping through a professor's hoops.
Kindness, like hatred, can be weaponized. Make use of kindness well, as it can be a very powerful tool in the right moments, and a very subtly destructive one in the wrong. Sometimes saying, "Everything will be alright," or, "Just think positively," end up helping someone, and other times, it ensures that someone will remain in an endless cycle of misery. Use your kindness properly because at the wrong times, it is not an iron bludgeon but a thorny blanket. It's warmth will make you ignore the many tiny cuts and stabs you keep receiving. Every. Single. Day. People don't deserve that.
If you're being bullied in school just keep your head up my friends and keep striving to be the best you that you can. 90% of the "popular" kids will peak in high school or college so the best revenge you can have is to be successful.
If you have a mosquito bite, run a spoon under hot water for a few seconds, then press gently against the bite to relieve the itch. Just don't burn yourself!
^^^This I had a bully or two in high school, but only because I was more the loner with my twin sister. Had no boyfriend nor cared about appearance or gossip like most girls then and cared more about grades. In my junior year, one girl tried to make me angry and whatnot, but I just told the teacher and embarrassed the bully in front of the class. Have no idea if she was popular or not, but the way she was acting makes me assume she was. Either way, I agree with this 100%.
First state the Truth, then state your opinion. If people with disagreements cannot acknowledge what is or is not True, then there is little more for them to discuss.
Be an individual, don't just be part of a collective. Question everything, even yourself. That doesn't mean become indecisive about everything, it just means keep a healthy skepticism about what you see and hear. And lastly, don't be afraid to make mistakes and be wrong. So many great content creators become incredibly egotistical and incapable of admitting when they were wrong about something. Don't let that happen to you. Being wrong is nothing to be ashamed of, everyone is wrong at various points of their life, use it as an opportunity to learn instead of see it as a slight against your pride.
In the immortal words of Elwood P. Dowd from the movie Harvey "In this world you have to either be oh-so-smart or oh-so-pleasant. I was smart for years. I recommend pleasant."
I posted this in another thread, and it bears repeating here: A piece of advice for anyone entering college: do not change your major in the home stretch unless you're 110% committed, AND unless you have a plan to cover the cost. Doing the opposite of that was easily the worst mistake of my college life, and has cost me time, money, and energy.
And the even more important question... Why would you do that to an animal that isn't bothering you? It was just needlessly cruel. Don't do that, you'll get what you deserve.
Well, even if you're the kind of cruel bastard that hates animals... I still can't imagine why pissing off a creature that can easily maul you to death seemed like a good idea. Unless he had a death wish. Reminds me of the guy in India who saw an elephant stampede coming and decided to die taking a selphie rather than do what everyone else was doing and getting the fuck out of the charging flesh tank's way.
This bear kicking thing brings up a good saying, "Just because you can do something, doesn't always mean you should." In this day and age where people desperately seek validation from strangers on the internet, people forget they have something that they should be using...their brain. It's sad really...that people think other people's opinions of them matters more to them than self respect, dignity, and honor.
