I was an absolute madwoman yesterday

I disabled and destroyed my Megatron's voice box feature without damaging the main figure. For some reason I just enjoy the toy more that way; it isn't enough for me for the toy to not be Chibatron, I wanted it to literally be unable to be Chibatron, especially when the bumbling, wacky Japanese version of the character was so integral to the figure's design and marketing (it almost feels like an insult given how expensive and collector-focused he is). It's weird and I have no idea why I did it aside from a strange dream I had the night before, it just makes the figure feel more valid to me as the real Beast Wars Megatron.

 

I just didn’t bother putting batteries in mine.

 

Yeah, mine was that way for the longest time, but I'm realizing that what I did was an act of protest against TT using and glorifying a 4Kids-esque, butchered Japanese dub when designing an expensive adult collectible from a Western cartoon (along with confidence that I'll be keeping my Megs for a long, long time). I mean seriously, what would have been so hard about using the switch to choose between English and Japanese voice clips given that they knew people would be importing the figure and Beast Wars is more popular in its continent of origin?

Hey, whatever floats your boat. It's your toy. But I mean, the toy was made for Japanese audiences. I get pissed off too when they use the localized names and terms for Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, etc... but it's understandable because that's what people grew up with and are used to.

 

A lot of them like the original version of Beast Wars, though. I have no idea whether the Japanese dub is the most popular/definitive version over there, but there are fans like Ichikawa who clearly prefer the English version. I don't live in Japan so I can only dig up secondhand accounts of what people think of sub vs. dub for Beast Wars there.

Speaking of which, the closest equivalent is probably Sailor Moon, where the original dub was goddamn butchered and many people prefer the sub (to the point we got a new dub), but many people remember it fondly. This Megatron would be the equivalent of a Japanese fan importing, say, an expensive NECA Sailor Moon figure that uses voice clips and the theme song from the DiC dub.

Those mini ducks might be the way to go. Botbots Quackles is pretty big. Even for a botbot.

Got my Megatron over the weekend at TFCon! Overall I think the figure's splendid; yessssssss!
I don't know if this a prevailing issue, but the waist on mine is SUPER loose. If he's just the slightest bit off center, his torso will just totally go flying in that same direction! Does anyone else have this issue? Are there any fixes? Found that his shoulders are fairly loose as well and his two back "fins" are at such an angle that they will not peg together.

Personally hoping eventually we might get to see a Masterpiece version of Transmetal Megs! Out of all his designs, I think that one as always my favourite! Think it would probably be a lot simpler to engineer as well!
