Simple question. With wave 3 coming at the end of the week, what do you want to build with new cards? Are you building new character decks or adding new battle cards to existing decks? I know the big one I hear about is Firecons. Personally I'm excited to use one of my favorite bots and make a 3 wide Skywarp deck. It's going to be interesting to build with secret actions, white pips, and no pip cards. A double Shockwave deck also seems really interesting and I need to find good thinks to build around a Trailbreaker and Triggerhappy.
So I've played with Firecons a bit, I think I'm going to use one of them but the whole team just doesn't have the damage output to compete with standard Hotwheels/Insecticon orange decks from what I've seen. I think I'm going to try and make a Megatron control deck with atleast one of the battlemasters.
After pulling Starscream I am really experimenting with a deck of him and Slipstream. They have remarkable synergy to deal in the upwards of 3 noncombat damage per turn - so I'm trying to build a deck around constant destruction of opponent upgrades. As a Blue magic player back in the day the idea of this deck excites me.
I got my Firecons build in a pretty good spot! I don't think they'll be competitively viable but they were fun to play!
Decepticars with Runabout and Runamuk. Those two are ridiculous. Playing around with either Dead End (hvy blue version) or Dragstrip (hvy orange version) as the 3rd character. But the draw engine synergy is just insane.
I'm planning out a Magnus/Jetfire Deck. I was looking for Magnus ideas and there's a certain amount of Synergy with Jetfire's ability.
Firecons, Omnibots, Runabout/Runamuck, Alpha Trion / Optimus Prime (or as I like to call it - the legandary Leaders) I also look forward to update some old ideas, like a Starscream/Seeker/Plane damage deck. Vangelus mentioned it during his last unboxing of a Siege display and I think it might have some potencial. I also want to try a Micromaster/Battlemaster only setup.
After going through the set again, especially the CC, I think I want to try out a Screamer/Ion Storm and an Screamer/Megatron Combo
Right now I'm working on Pteraxdon/ W1 Jazz/ W1 Mirage deck focused on flipping white pips thru bold, plan, and spinner rims.
Ok, four wide planes is a lot of fun. W1 Starscream, Silverbolt and Fireflight, Vesper, A lot of direct damage (bombing runs, OSS, just burn spells in general) and orange.
Since last weekend I've been super excited to try and build a Firecons deck. I looked through several different Orange heavy decklists, sorted all my cards, set aside possible cards, and made lists of cards I needed to buy and cards I needed extras of. Today I finally got to play the deck I made and it worked pretty damn well. I basically let my friend build my previous decks for me since I'm new to TCGs but this one was almost all me. My friend only helped me figure out the last 10 cards and suggested swapping a few of the others out to get it balanced, but I had already pulled those cards as options. I'm super proud of it. I feel like I'm really understanding the game better and this deck is proof. I think I won 4 out of the 12 or so games I played this afternoon. If you are curious, I was played against a Soundwave and 2 tapes blue deck; an Arcee, W1 Grimlock, and Lionizer deck; W1 Jefire and OPBL; and a Megs Living Weapon, Lionizer, and Air Raid deck. Lionizer is broken good. That is a tough character to play against but my Firecons held their own pretty well. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I can't wait to play some more with this deck and definitely make some more wave 3 decks. Probably with Lionizer.
I am thinking of trying a Tank/Plane build with Two Pronged Attack but I am not sure whether to go 2 tanks, 1 plane or vice versa.
Friend of mine used Magnus/Jetfire against me today. I really like the idea and intend to build me own version next week or so.
With all the complaining and whining on the FB pages about a deck winning with Cliffjumper, Imma gunna make the most chessiest, brokenest, jankiest deck around Kup and win PAX unplugged. Then I can sit back and laugh at people claiming how Kup is broken and demand he gets banned. #KupBrokenAF2019
