I don’t really mind it with the others, but it’s pretty essential to Spider-Man considering a lot of his appeal is that he’s such a relatable character with superhero problems on top of all the normal responsibilities that come with being a young adult.

That was definitely a rumor that has been circling around over the last two weeks. It is that Sony and Marvel have just come to another 9 movie deal.

Wouldn't surprise me other than Venom and Spider-verse most Sony movies have been bombing MIB International anyone? The top brass are happy they have a good thing going. Removing Spidey would limit him more and sales could drop. They know the MCU is a money maker.

We saw it today, everyone loved it. My wife, who is superhero'd out after Infinity/Endgame, couldn't stop commenting on it.

    I am ok with
the reveal as it works for this Spider-man in a MCU which has dealt with Civil War. However with the second post-credit scene maybe the Skrulls could help Spidey/Peter. I hope the next solo Spidey movie has him wrapping up college or fast tracking it 'cuz I am can't wait to see him lead the Avengers like IM/TS.[/spoilers]

Yeah, that's not Spider-man, he's never led the Avengers, and is more of a follower than a leader. Most of his history has been avoiding or getting kicked out of teams. One of the few times it worked was when he was with the FF. But he's rarely ever led a team, unless it was a team of Spider characters.

I almost guarantee they've already renewed his contract. Marvel is superb at planning this stuff, and I don't think they would have ended FFH the way they did if they weren't sure he was going to be returning. Besides that, they're setting him up to take the torch from the MCU's main player. Spider-Man probably has many movies ahead of him.

Keep in mind Marvel has been overly secretive recently. They haven't even officially announced the Black Widow movie yet, and it's filming. Obviously they wouldn't announce a renewal of Spider Man's contract, so as not to spoil his fate in Endgame.

I had a feeling that blonde lady
who gave Peter the Night Monkey suit, is the new Black Widow. In the comics I remember aside from Natasha, there's at least 2 other Black Widows, 1 of which was blonde.

I have a feeling Tom Holland probably has a new contract going that we aren't privy to just yet.

The mid-credits scene pretty much sets the path for a whole other saga, bringing in J Jonah Jameson brings in a whole bunch of possibilities to explore. If Disney was trying to cap things off for Spider-Man, I highly doubt they would've even bothered getting JJJ into play.

I've gotta disagree with you because
I don't want them rushing through high school and college just for the sake of it. I want to see him naturally graduate high school and then start college.

Well I guess lead is a bad word.
I meant fill in as one of the top three Avengers like IM/TS. Probably Falcon or Captain Marvel will lead.

I know I am probably in minority but I am ready to see Parker industries or something different as a path for the Spidey solo in MCU. I do like the friendly neighborhood SM stuff but we have already seen the MJ/GS-school/college-work-superhero balancing act in other movies. Diffence here is this is MCU. This takes place right after Endgame and Peter can't even take time off for a summer school trip. Not saying he should be married and CEO by next one or two solos but just a bit more grown up than we have seen him before

I thought the movie was great. They absolutely nailed Mysterio and did him the right kind of justice.

Now as far as the end credits go....
I too am kind of annoyed they outed Spider-Man. He really is one of the only characters who insists on his anonymity. I wonder where they're going to take this. And now on the Skulls. Big sigh there from me. Skrulls are bad guys, why are they so insistent on making them good guys? Now suddenly Fury is working out of skrull space station and giving jobs to Talos? If he had that kind of resources why have Peter do anything alone?

better than Homecoming, not as good as Spider-Verse (but then, what COULD be?!)

also, side thought- I kept wishing they'd reveal the girl in Peter's class with the hijab was named "Kamala." I know that's not perfectly accurate to the comics but it SEEMS like such an easy option for bringing her in...

I just watched Spider-Man 2 2004 for the first time in like 10 years after seeing Far From Home.

I remember it Spider-Man 2 being pretty good back in the day, but wow, through more mature eyes, now it's really really, really good! It's pure classic Spider-Man straight out of the old comic books and hits all the notes. It's aged really well. Try watching it again people! Spider-Man swinging around with that killer score is absolutely epic! It's Danny Elfman! How did I not know that before!

Also, I wasn't too aware of Evil Dead and Sam Raimi back then, but wow, really nice nods. The Doc Ock on the surgery table was pure Evil Dead homage. Awesome! I remember back in the day it was really bizarre and seemed out of place, but I didn't really know about Evil Dead back then, or even payed attention to who the director was. Great cameo by Bruce Campbell also and Doc Ock seems to borrow a bit from Sam Raimi's Darkman as well.

New Spider-man is awesome too. It's very 2019, millennial, tweeny, P.C., quippy jokes, etc., but it's fine. Far from home was basically Iron Man 4: Peter Tingling for Tony... :p

Can't wait for the next Spider-Man movie! Hope not all of Spider-man villains moving forward are basically jerks that have been wronged Tony Stark like Vulture and Mysterio. What' next? Curt Connors, former Stark physician that lost his limb working for Tony, and discovers alien technology in Stark's cryostasis chamber? :p

    Just my opinion! :D

Wow. My friends and I loved it. Aside from Infinity War and Endgame, the MCU's best, and the best Spider-Man film (I haven't seen Into the Spiderverse). The humour was great and the European tour made for a nice, distinct setting.

Tom Holland continues to knock it out of the park. He is such a great actor. He captures the geekiness and youth of the character so well, but he does expresses emotion amazingly. I loved both Maguire and Garfield as Spidey too, but Holland is the best live-action portrayal, no doubt in my mind.

I loved that they showed how the world has re-adapted, and that there was a new classmate who used to be 5 years younger than everyone. MJ is not Mary Jane, but that's okay. She's her own thing, with MJ similarities, and a really good character. Her and Peter's chemistry was great. It captured the awkwardness of teenage dating. The Ned/Betty stuff was hilarious. Flash was really funny too but I felt bad for him at the end; it adds depth to his character by revealing that his mom is distant/neglectful. The teachers were probably the funniest characters though and almost stole the show.

The twist was predictable but it still worked great. Mysterio is among the MCU's best villains, just edging out Vulture for me. He's proof that a villain doesn't always have to be complex to be great. In fact, just how much of a bastard he was formed a big part of his greatness. His manipulations, costume and illusions were also top class. The illusion sequence in Berlin was so trippy and had so much depth (Tony's grave, "You're just a kid in sweats"). It's an iconic MCU moment. I liked the details of tying him back to BARF and the "Tony Stark built this in a cave" guy coming back. I liked how you felt the betrayal and it added so much emotion to the climax due to how well Beck's bond with Peter was built prior. I liked the added detail of all the battle damage to Peter's suit in the climax. All the suits in this film were awesome.

This was a great look at grief. Tony's shadow hung over everywhere and Peter had so much to live up to. Peter's grief was so palpable and it brought the pain of the end of Endgame running back. I cried during the conversation between Peter and Happy on the jet.

The 2nd mid-credits scene was one of the MCU's best. I had a nagging feeling that Fury seemed off. It was such a nice surprise to have Talos back and I'm excited by what the real Fury is doing. The 1st mid-credits scene though is, imo, the best one Marvel has done yet. I lost my crap when it happened. In the end, Mysterio had the last laugh and Peter's world has been turned upside-down (I did really enjoy as well the Daily Bugle being introduced and J.K. Simmons reprising his iconic role as JJJ!).

Considering One More Day is pretty much despised across the board, I don't think they ever will. It is the biggest embarassment in Spider-Man's entire history. Even the 70s joke of a TV show has more dignity than OMD.

People look back on those movies as campy, pretty much only remembering Spider-Man 3, when in reality they're just very melodramatic (kind of like the comic books they're based on). The scary scenes are all quick cuts and high strings, the tragic scenes have a lot of closeups on people in emotional turmoil and tearjerking music, the big hero moments are bombastic musical swells and moving comic book imagery, and the comedy all comes from either very quick, overlapping, almost play like dialogue, or very, very silly character bits (which I believe is where most of the complaints come in).

But it's all still rooted in characters that make choices with consequences, and learn lessons, and change. All that on the nose filmmaking is really swinging for the fences to sell those moments because it's trying to make you feel the story.

All the movies since have had a completely different affectation. Which isn't bad or anything, there's more than one way to approach a story, the problem is that the stories they're telling were never on point in the same way (or in the case of the TASM movies, were something out of '90s superhero misfires). Which is why I take such issue when someone says that some new actor or movie IS Spider-Man in a way Toby Maguire never was... That's not the case. It's just that that actor's affectation or whatever is more palatable

Actually Peter would be a Gen Z-er. He was 15 in 2016, which means he was born in 2001. Millennials are 1980 to 1997.

Spider-Man has been making quippy jokes since 1963 though.

I do have to disagree with you on Spider-Man 2... too. I just rewatched it myself and I thought it was rather lackluster. Not bad, on par with a Phase 1 MCU film, but not even close to being as good as the Phase 3 films and, of course, The Winter Soldier.

I do agree about the soundtrack, as none of the movies that followed have given us a Spider-Man theme as epic, but not on the Evil Dead shit. That entire hospital scene with Doc Ock is out of place. It doesn't fit with the tone of the rest of the movie at all as it is way too campy for its own good. It's also quite dumb. And then there is all of the screaming going on. I don't think 5 minutes went by without a scream or a cry.

I'm also not a fan of that Doc Ock as he looks like he is trying to cosplay as every Matrix character including the Sentinels.

This I thought was a really well done movie.
The end fight scene was perfect..
The way they explain things made sense as well.
I have to rewatch but top 5 as of right now.
