I still have most if not all of the figures I got as a kid. My MP/3P collection is all but gone. I had some real hard economic times and parted with my almost all of my collection. I still have an MP-09 and my MP 32(?) Whatever Primal is. I was a little sad when I sold my MP Ultra Magnus, I found him at a pawn shop for $115, it was too good to be true. I was pretty sad though, when I had to sell my MP-10. I used part of my first ever paycheck to buy that guy. Hell, I'm getting a little teary-eyed right now typing this. I know I can always buy another Prime, when money permits, but that was my holy grail. Oh well...

I'm doing better now, still not flush with cash, but I'm done buying figures. HOWEVER, I have a huge soft spot for Armada, it's what got me into this godforsaken fandom. If FansHobby's Armada OP is amazing, I'm gonna get it.

I’m just the opposite. I say I’m not buying anymore mp and I get road king and maverick. I say no more legends and walk away with ms ultra Magnus and prime. I say no more chug but have siege Jetfire on the way. Bought four Optimus prime’s this week alone lol.

Thanks all for your input and stories. I use to be a "Completionist" (which nothing is wrong with that) but overtime I got tired/fatigue and decided to sell off all my Autobot MP's (As a kid I always rooted/enjoyed the bad guys) so I told myself only collect the Cons and every since then that's how I've been collecting minus random purchases here and there. Fast forward now/today,I look @ Cons collection and it still a nice Collection and accomplishment throughout the Years and it doesn't bring me joy like it use too.

Someone said it earlier to just keep what meant something and maybe, just maybe that's the next big step for me. Its funny when I look @ my collection and contemplate what goes and stays and C9 QuakeBlast stays even though Shockwave isn't my Favorite character,I just love that figure. Also I think what haunts me is if I do sell these, don't expect to come around and try and get them again if I ever had the itch again.

...honestly, yeah, i've kind of lost interest in my masterpiece collection since takara abandoned its prior focus: i might pass on hound entirely, which is crazy since the G1 figure is one of my absolute favorites, but MP-can't-even-bother-to-remember-the-number doesn't scratch the same itch at all...

...if MMC's ocular max line were to start cranking out figures comparable to sphinx again, that'd immediately rekindle my excitement, but i don't see that happening and none of the other third-party manufacturers are playing in the same league...

I'm going back and getting figures I missed out on when I stopped collecting years ago.

I'm eager to be done. Like I'm not losing interest in the collection itself but I want to be done collecting (meaning have mp and legends figures for all the characters that I want) and just not do it anymore. I want the part of my fun budget that's dedicated to Transformers to free up so I can do other things with it. A nice gaming PC (that would also work well for 3d design and other resource intense tasks) with a good VR headset maybe, and a higher end 3d printer to replace the crappy one I'm using.

My other problem is display space. Like there's space to add more shelves and stuff but, and I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, I just don't think a big toy collection display is very aesthetically pleasing. They get crowded to the point that you can't do fun scenes and dynamic poses and too many shelves/cabinets just makes a room look bad. I've got a double detolf in my living room and it's packed but I just don't think a third detolf or a larger cabinet (even a nicer one) will look good in the space. Like you see people who have a nice tasteful assortment of pictures and knick knacks in their living room and it looks nice but then you see an old Grandma with every wall packed with shelves and all the shelves densely packed with stuff and it just looks garish, even if they're nice collectables.

I could do a dedicated toy display room but it would be pointless because I would never spend any time in there. I like having them in the living room because I can admire them when I'm watching TV or just hanging out.

And it's not just my MP Transformers - I want to bring my legends collection home but there's just nowhere to put them. And then I've got other random toys - a few figmas, nendoroids, revoltech, a small Black Series collection, Mega Construx Motu, and a few other random things and I just can't figure out a way to display them all without it looking awful. Like I kinda want to scale back to a simpler collection but I don't actually - I like all my toys and want to keep them but I can't figure out a way to make the room look good with them.

I dunno. Maybe I just need a bigger home. One with a nice downstairs family room that can be the home theatre and I could line the walls with displays. Maybe do a diorama with the legends figures - I'd love to have a wall with a wide glass cabinet built in with all the figures in a full on battle scene with scenery and blast and explosion effects all wired up with lights like what Pastor Robin does (though I'd just light the effects, not mod the figures with light up eyes or anything).

I'm very much losing interest. I don't need Take Three on a given MP combiner team. Fill the damn holes in the lineup first.

The more delays occur for announced MP figures that cover the last few remaining Season Two and '86 Movie characters, the more disappointing it gets. It's not enjoyable, it's just grinding out the last few and it's taking several years now instead of just a few months. It's starting to make me wish I'd never started because I hate not completing things I've started and this incomplete state is becoming a pain point.

Bare minimum to consider things complete:
    • FT Jabber (Blurr)
    • Ocular Max Eject, Rewind, Steeljaw, and Ramhorn
    Really nice to have:
    • FT Chomp (Skullcruncher)
    • MT Highbrow and Brainstorm
    • FT Thomas (Astrotrain), Sheridan (Warpath)
Would still get if they come out before I give up waiting:
    • FT Berserk (Blitzwing), Outrider (Trailbreaker)
    • MP Defensor / Protectobots team
    • The rest of MMC's Assaultus (Bruticus) team for Combaticon botmodes
    • XTB Gravestone (Motormaster) if it's not trash
    • XTB Neptune in G1 colors
    • FT Stunticons cars even though they're a bit oversized in botmodes
What I don't need and yet seems to be pushing the above collection completer figures out indefinitely:
    • FT combiner teams
    • MT Seeker repaints and Cross Dimension figures
    • MMC Ocular Max figures other than Autobot cassettes, especially Sphinx repaints and the Assaultus team if they're holding up the cassettes
They're fine products, they just shouldn't be holding up completing other things. imho, of course. This whole question is asking opinions though, so hopefully that goes without saying. :)

I pretty much sold everything after life kicked the shit out of me a couple of years ago. Losing my wife of 20 years and my brother getting a life sentence took the wind out of my sails completely for ancillary stuff like collecting.

My collecting habits goes in spurts. One month I go all in, especially if I find a deal or a good price second hand. Then I'll go on hiatus mode for a couple of months. I have a handful on pre-order. Hopefully their releases are spread out enough to not worry about it crushing my wallet in one fell swoop.

I'm so sorry, man. I really am. I hope life starts finding its groove for you, again. That's an incredible sucker punch and I commend you for having the strength to even be on here after all of that.

    Good grief, man.

If not, I'll shift focus on to something else in my interest sphere.

Right now I'm having a devil of a time learning Python.

To your concern of finding them again, I walked away for a decade and most of it was the same price when I returned. And even then, better figures come out daily.

I wouldn't say I'm losing interest in my collection... but I am feeling a bit, overwhelmed?

Like when I look at individual figures, I love them all... I think they're awesome and cool and fun. And I still get joy in making groupings of figures.. teams like the Wreckers.

But sometimes when I consider my collection as a whole it's like... what am I doing, why do I have all these, this is insane.

I'm at the point where I realize it's ridiculous to have one of each character in CHUG, one in MP.

So, I purged most of my MP, aside from a few exceptions.

I'll be purging my Prime and RID (2015) as well, plus any extras I might have. My focus will be CHUG and Studio Series from here on out. I'm even walking away from 3rd party for the most part. Aside from Perfect Effect kits for combiners and things like God Ginrai, I'm starting to wear thin on my patience for them and their prices. Especially the TDW kit for Abominus, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Also, I'm tired of rebuying characters I already have. Don't get me wrong, I like Siege Springer a great deal, more so than T30's version and he deserved a proper update, he was well overdue, I'm sick and tired of Megatron and Optimus constantly one-upping themselves with each new iteration, and I'm tired of figures needing legit updates and not getting them, like Inferno and Hoist and Grapple and Trailbreaker.

Hasbro needs to power through these and get 'em done properly so I can have time to enjoy them before I get too old to give a crap. I'm almost there.

Only time I ever feel like that is when I'm super depressed. Then I just want to get rid of everything and disappear. Haven't been that down in a while, though... so knock on wood.

I have found that I have been able to enjoy my collecting more now that I've narrowed everything down to Legends+ scale. I enjoy seeing all my robois sitting together on one shelf. It somewhat helps to push back the dark clouds.

I've pretty much gotten a version of every character I love in MP form. I mostly use my Legends as an excuse to grab s03-4 characters, without breaking the bank.

    No interest lost, just slowed.

The best thing I ever did was selling my kiddieformers. I hate-collected them after a few years.
