I think you're right about that. Although IIRC, the Shout! releases had further changes with character names and some terminology.

I can see the Viz translation sticking to terms like Chōkon Power because it's a manga and I can see them sticking close to the original text (although I personally feel the Energon terms are far better fitting for a Transformers story).

Honestly, my concern has to do with the way some card translations in Yu-Gi-Oh! were handled. For example, volume 4 of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga has several errors with the card names, which range from switched names to name changes. It even happens a few mores times to the end of its run. Heck, one page from one volume has TWO different names ON THE SAME PAGE!

Although, since some characters have had a name since the beginning, name changes shouldn't be a problem.

 

If they do change the names to the Hasbro names it should be a lot easier to keep track since they're proper long established names especially for the earliest chapters. Cybertrons are Autobots, Convoy is Optimus Prime, Bumble is Bumblebee, etc. It's at least definitely a lot easier to keep track here than it would be for Yu-Gi-Oh! and thousands of card names.

 

Hopefully I like the translations and are worthy of my grace.

Yeah. I've wanted to see the Kiss Players manga forever. I just wanna see what all the fuss was about. I've requested info on where to find it but nobody ever tells. It's like the people that have it don't want to share it for some reason.

 

I mean like you can find any information on it but the true experience lies within reading the source. Much like this manga release. It’s a good chance to share. Maybe not that many people will change their minds on it, but it’d be cool to strut up to a store, walk in and come out with it.

 

Transformers manga has always felt a little bit rare. I don't think that many people have it to share in the first place, let alone with the Kiss Players stuff which I don't think has ever been reprinted, doesn't have that many chapters in the first place, and actually requires the radio play on top of that to truly enjoy and get that full experience.

 

Right I see. I guess a complete set with the chapters and the radio would be the best option. But it does seem unlikely from what I can tell.

 

The chapters collected and released again is a possibility, albeit a remote one. And those chapters being translated and released by Viz may also still be a possibility in the right situation. But with the imagined cost and time involved with the radio play stuff being re-released (let alone re-recorded in English), it's likely out of the question for Viz or anyone else to pursue.

Given the 272-page count and the mention of "The Great Transformer War" (the second of the two "2010" mangas) in the summary, it looks like Viz's Vol 1 is, in fact, the first two Japanese volumes in one, collecting all the manga that runs concurrent with the US cartoon.

 

And ordered
