What a scam, they didn't even try to add wires for his dismembered limbs. Everybody cancel their preorders!

Looks like the same problem applies to mine. Got to love how Hasbro somehow finds new ways of messing with these otherwise rather good MPM designs.
It's more the case that the MPM head is a blend between his final head design and the preliminary one that got dropped from the film, but after being modelled by ILM. The panels from the old design are jammed in on the sides of the MPM headsculpt, making it look fuller and rounder. I can only assume they did this to enclose the head better in jet mode.

I also had to take apart the ankles this morning and tighten up the forward/backward pivots so it wasn't a balancing act to pose him. He can now stand with his cannon. IMG_20190706_100941~2.jpg

Seriously? Another figure with weak ankles? From the video above I suspect Jazz might also have ankle issues from the way they transform. I went through four copies of MPM-3 Bumblebee and all had crappy loose ankle joints. Two Takara and two Hasbro copies. I liked the figure and I was desperate to get one that could actually stand up. I ended up keeping one Takara and one Hasbro and using Future on the ankles. I don’t like using Future because it eventually wears off and you need to fix it again.

I just don’t get why companies don’t focus more on tight ankle joints. I’ve had many figures from Takara and 3rd party that can barely stand on the shelf in a neutral pose which is a huge fail.

It almost looks like at one point he was going to be designed with ratchets in the ankles. I ended up sanding down the screw posts so I could tighten the ankle to get more friction. It also seems like the post that goes through the actual foot is slightly too small for the hole, I was able to put two wraps of packing tape to tighten up that as well. IMG_20190706_094457.jpg

This was talked about a while ago, but basically there are two head models used in the movie where two parts on the head make it look round and make him less ferocious. It's not a problem with the cheeks, just extra parts on the head which make it seem that way. You see them on at the end of the movie, and when we initially see Megatron being discovered frozen underneath ice. The bottom CG render is what his head model was for most of the movie. The top CG render was scrapped and was likely the result of these extra parts.

That’s actually a really good idea, because the friction won’t ever wear off. So the ankles work for you now? I might do that when I get mine before I even notice an issue. As for the hips, I’m just going to open them up and make sure the pieces aren’t bent like yours; if not, then all is well. Maybe tape could be useful for the hips too?

I didn’t get any indication Jazz’s feet were gonna be loose. He has giant heel spurs that are less moveable than Bumblebee’s

The ankles are more stable, however for a bot this size it should have had ratchets, or been designed so there is more area contacting on the ankle pivot to increase friction. As for the hips, I think the looseness is because of the size of the ratchet tooth/spacing, paired with the fact that the springloaded pads (that one was bent on mine) is a softer plastic, not completely rubbery but definitely more flexible than what should have been used. Really hoping for an upgrade set for this guy just to give him the high end feel he is lacking in a few places.

I’m starting to get slightly concerned about Megatron’s joints after hearing some of these recent reports. I really hope it’s not widespread. Is this issue happening on everybody's or is it isolated cases?

I dunno, mine is a pre-release sample and the joints are fine (except for the fingers, which are kinda loose).

I have a pre-release as well and the joints are fine. The hips do have a bit of play room between each gear, but if you widen the stance it’s fine. If the teeth were smaller then you would definitely sacrifice the stability since the wings are on the back as well as a die-cast plate. The fingers are loose, but future would fix that since they are pure friction joints. If they were pins you’d be pissed cause you can’t effectively tighten them.
