Spoiler I hope so too. I have a feeling it will be Kraven and Scorpion since they’ll have to bring back Scorpion at some point after the previous movie’s after credits scene.
Spoiler you originally mentioned Kraven but it seems you edited that part out. Was it a mistake or did I miss a part with Kraven?
Just got out of it. My god, my mom and I loved it. The visuals looked more crisp/smooth than Doctor Strange. I was floored by the credit scenes, I cannot wait to see how they go forward with Spider-Man’s character. Also, Spoiler: Spoiler: I Called It That illusion involving Tony was my favorite illusion. My heart: P.s. if anyone has pics/a video of that scene, can you please PM that? LOVED that more than I should have considering the damage it did to my soul.
No, that was a typo. Spoiler I meant to say Chameleon, not Kraven, but I had a brain fart and was thinking Kraven was Dmitri, not Sergei.
I loved Far From Home and Jake Gyllenhaal was awesome as Mysterio. Loved everything that happened in the movie and also Peter and MJ were so adorable. Now about the mid credits scene. Spoiler J.K. Simmons is back! So happy! But with his secret identity being outed, I can totally see this issue being resolved pretty quickly in the third movie. Shield can easily cover it up and like others have mentioned, a Skrull or even a holographic illusion could help with a Peter Impersonation. Also it seems in the MCU the Daily Bugle is a controversial news website so I could see many not believing that a 16 year old kid from Queens is Spider-Man.
A couple of theories I have, which are kind of similar to yours: Spoiler 1. They use the Skrull to have Peter and Spider-Man together. 2. The vast majority are all like, "Who?" and then go back to their daily lives without a care in the world. 3. Peter just pulls a Tony and is like, "Yep, I'm Spider-Man." Personally, I think #1 is the one they'll do, but #2 would be pretty funny too.
Damnit Kevin. I'm really not that big a Spider-Man fan. But you've got me all excited for the next one. Additionally: Spoiler 4. Doctor Strange helps Peter recover his identity 5. Someone else stands in for Peter like in the Batman TAS episode "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne." Maybe Harry can be introduced for this purpose. 6. Like Mark Waid's Daredevil, Peter can just bareface his way through it, showing up to parties wearing "I Am Not Spider-Man" shirts and the like. Regardless, I hope this movie comes out in 2024 and picks up right after this one. We can get Mayor Jameson, Spider Slayers, Scorpion, etc. Honestly discrediting Jonah would work just as well to clear Spidey's name. But deranged conspiracy vloggers can't be defeated with facts, otherwise we already would have irl. Spoiler Hill has called him Nick rather a few times I believe. At any rate, Fury was definitely around for Stark's funeral because Talos have Peter the glasses on his orders. Had Hill been the mysterious Fourth Skrull from Captain Marvel I'd maybe except that Hill was a Skrull the whole time, but she was simmed by Talos' wife. So obviously the intended takeaway is that she's only been Hill as long as he's been Fury.
Oh wait, it could be like the one issue where Spoiler Peter had Prowler dress up as Spider-Man to stop Captain Stacy from thinking they were the same person.
Spoiler But does the average person in the world know Mysterio was the bad guy? They just saw him fight big nmonsters, then get attacked by Spiderman and say "execute them all." As Mysterio said, people will believe anything if it comes from someone in a cape. I LOVED the scenes when Mysterio went full illusion. He's my third fav spidey villain, and I've been wanting him in a movie for years, to see what they do with him. I feel they really did him justice here. MJ was much better here, as she felt like a character, and yes, I get that's intentional as she has some kind of social awkwardness so she was like she was in the first one. But now she knows Parker's identity, I'm looking forward to her helping him out. And Yes! Those magnificent buggers did it! JK Simmons is back! Hopefully he'll have his hair back in future ones if he's more than just a cameo.
Saw this yesterday and enjoyed it. I think my problem with these movies (and most super her movies atm) is they always push the hero out of their own territory? Like everything has to be a grand adventure. (I know there’s an argument for stagnation, and I completely agree it’s a balancing act) This was a cool film and I really did enjoy it, but I really just want a spider-man movie where he’s in New York being spider-man, and I don’t think the MCU can give us that anymore. I’m being an old man here tbh, but the stark tech stuff is still something I’m not totally into, I understand it takes a lot of the down time where he’s “figuring it out” away, but I like those slower moments. I like when his gadgets fail and he refines them, etc. There are deffo pro’s to MCU spider-man (Tom holland is a great Peter imo). I’d love if the next one was more about organised crime in his neighbourhood, have a full on turf war with silvermane and hammerhead or something, the police think he’s a menace after the last movie so he has to be extra careful etc. I dunno, it was a fun movie, I’d give it an 8/10 easy.
Perfect time to bring in the netflix Kingpin into the wider movies. Save having to spend time setting him up, and makes a connecting tissue between netflix and the movies (yes, I know they're all cancelled now, but still). Kingpin vs Hammerhead turf wars? With Spidey trying to keep the peace? While also avoiding the police?
I actually avoided writing Kingpin because I figured he’s a no go and will end up in whatever Daredevil property we get in the far future, but yeah I’d love him to show up. It’d be really interesting to see these kind of criminals bending the system to their will and making it so super heroes can’t touch them.
I recollect one series actually had Kingpin gain the licensing rights for Spider-Man's image, essentially allowing him to make money off of the web-slinger's exploits since Spidey himself can't take ownership for his identity without revealing, well, his identity. That'd be a tough fight to fight, knowing the heroism you uphold is actually benefiting a criminal overlord.
That’s an interesting story (I remember that one as well), but I reckon that’d be better suited to a series maybe? Feel like there’s a big build up over time with that. Really hope the Disney shows take off.
