So now its only 20 million short... I wouldn't have called anything just yet. It's entirely too close.
It would be nice to have the record, but it's even better to have a movie that is so much better than Avatar.
I'm still optimistic. I think it will get a boost from Spider-Man over the weekend. My showing for Spider-Man was packed yesterday. Plus, Endgame hasn't been in theaters as long as Avatar was. If they do another marketing boost at the end of summer, I think it will beat it.
There's nothing to boost it with, though. For lack of better terminology, they sorta blew their load with last weekend's terribly misleading "re-release" with unfinished footage that ultimately just pissed off people more than anything. As it is, it's barely crossing $1 Million per weekend anymore, and the home release is coming at the end of this month. Best thing they could do now would be to let it simmer out in theaters, hype the home release, relax for a few months, then throw it back in theaters with Infinity War around Thanksgiving to hype up the Infinity Saga boxset(s) that will inevitably be ready for X-Mas.
Are you joking? Or is that something new these days? Rule of thumb on canon was always that it needed to be be seen/said within the narrative and part of the final product to be considered canon
I'm not speaking on my behalf, since I've already seen the movie. But not everybody has. Some people don't like going to theatres and wait for the home video options. Regardless of that, though, I just can't stand trailer cuts that give away the whole game. It just feels... cheap. The film-makers put in a lot of work to ensure that many of those scenes have maximum payoff in context, and they get stripped down for cheap thrills.
If they want to wait till the home video release, they need to be smart enough to stay out the places were the people who have seen the movie are discussing it. We aren’t going to halt everything we are doing and talking about just for that one person who wants to be different.
It's a cultural thing in Japan. Unlike western trailers, which tease viewers into wanting to see how the movie ends, most Japanese trailers already give away the ending because Japanese viewers want to know who the characters are and what they did that resulted in the ending. A good example is the trailer for Seven Samurai. Also, Spider-Man: Far From Home already spoiled Endgame for those who haven't seen it.
Guess they're still not done with this "re-release" push. They're about to land it in India this weekend... Avengers: Endgame Expands International Re-Release in Bid to Dethrone Avatar It still won't pass Avatar just from this, but it could help close the gap significantly more.
Not to get political but had a thought the other day about IW and EG...the “snap” basically puts a definitive end on the whole when does life begin debate. There is no way in hell the snap caused fetuses to disappear out of wombs or expecting mothers to disappear leaving a fetus. Just saying.
I saw a meme that went like this: Thanos: *snaps* Toys: *half of them start disappearing* Me, who grew up watching Toy Story: “I knew it!” (From Endgame)
I can’t agree with your conclusion I can certainly believe that the “snap” could cause a fetus to “disappear” from a womb And I would assume that a fetus would dust along with the expecting mother
That's fine if you can't agree. Just a thought and I'm up for discussion. To clarify, are you saying you think the snap did cause fetuses to dust in the womb but if an expecting mother got dusted, the fetus would go with her? If so, I don't think you can pick and choose, it's one or the other and I'm sticking with the later case where it's a package deal...meaning it's considered one life.
Just in case, this topic would probably be best left to PM since it is encroaching on rule 3 Thanks in advance!
