I was going to get Hi-Res Astray since I like the design but have only built the old 144 kit. But God Gundam is a top tier MS for me, that's a must buy.
I keep postponing the HiRM Red Frame because a part of me wants to believe it's going to become Powered Red.. eventually?
Gave it an extra time to dry because I didn't feel like messing with it yesterday... but the Jagd Doga has been reassembled after its clear coat! the smudged areas of the Funnels are conveniently hidden against the binder. This makes my 228th Gunpla and second RE/100 build. Reinforcing the joint posts with glue really helped to fix its stability and a tighter fit on the polycaps.
The only Hi-RM i had was barbatos and that wasnt worth it for me and i never bothered to care for the Hi-RM line. Granted that was way back when so chances are they've improved so here's hoping it turns out good because g-gundam is my favorite series, but what i want to know is, are Hi-RM made for painting? The barbatos runners had the nice metallic paint already on it and it was both cool and disappointing. Were other Hi-RM's like this as well or has their way of doing the Hi-RM changed drastically since the barbatos. I'd actually would want to paint this but if there's no reason to then i might as well just buy another MG of this or HELL wait for a metal build (pray) of this since it's a similar idea idea in concept.
Been slowly building up supplies and figured I would dig out an older DBZ kit and do some panel lining and washes to bring out the detail. I meant to spray with a matte topcoat, but picked up semi-gloss by accident so he's a bit shinier than I would have liked. Also I realized I can't paint with a Gundam Marker to save my life. Seems like $20 wasted.
I don't think the Hi-RM are made for painting as the pieces on the sprues are gloss injected if I'm not mistaken.
That didn't stop me, but it pays to prime those areas nonetheless.. Circa March, 2019. .. I'll get back to this kit eventually, and then build the Wing EW version. My dilemma with the line stems from the number of prebuilt frame parts started fracturing. Weak material or it was badly molded. Yeah, the Wing Zero too has the chromed gold parts with obnoxious sprue placements that were too visible so I stripped the chrome and repainted those myself. - I'm waiting for a tool and some aftermarket decals for the Nightingale to come in the mail. I finally bought a Mr Hobby brand Mr Clean Stick... no relation to the bald toilet scrubber guy. A friend of mine got one a long while ago and I figured it would be useful in cleaning up the paint spillage on the undercarriage, my cotton tips are good for small stains but I need something with a little more pressure... the question though is do they sell replacement heads for it, and how many times can I clean them before they break down? We'll find out soon enough. Getting the decals for it will coincide with my applying the decals to Sazabi too. So.. I'm going back to work on another kit I started and put down, the GM Sniper II. Part of the delay is revising its frame colors. Originally I was going for the gold and silver painted pistons and joints, but my enamel was starting to get sloppy. I managed to strip it off a few months ago to redo it in something a little darker and easier using my Frame Gray recipe of acrylic. I already had it mapped onto the weapons, but I have a pattern going now that will look pretty good and remain mostly visible when the kit is fully outfitted. I'm almost tempted though to track down one of those Clear variants and do my metallic color pattern that way. In other musings tonight, I cut a few of those Dura Gold sanding sheets into strips using my father's old industrial grade paper cutter.. 1" by 5" strips I can tape over my wedge tools and also use free hand. Dry, the 400 grit sheet is a little more coarse than my Alpha Abrasives pads, but wet it becomes much softer.
Nice haul. shinies! speaking of Infinite, a friend of mine shared this with me.. INFINITISM ! Mazinkaiser!!! Digital prototype, but you can see how it recycles parts from the Great Mazinger for its biceps, thighs, waist, and abdomen. Same way the Grendizer uses parts from the Z.
Okay, these things look awesome: 30MM アルト[ホワイト][ブルー][イエロー] レビュー The level of customization/modularity is crazy. EDIT: The weapons pack is killer, too: 30MM アルト用オプションウェポン1 レビュー
I saw that. I am seriously considering picking one up and customizing it to go with the Sky High Wings set I bought which I still haven't figured out what I want to do with yet. Haha.
It’s too bad so much of Master Grade and Perfect Grade inner frames get covered up. They look really good if you make the effort in even just painting and lining them. I've also come to realize that I MUCH prefer waterslide decals to dry-transfer decals. Sure, there's more prep and wait time on waterslides; but there's no leeway in errors on dry-transfers, and they suck ass to apply on rounded/multi-faced surfaces.
Killing time before feeding time, trimming parts for the Sniper. Realizing now where I had that pack of WAVE lens parts stashed, and a spare runner of HD MS Lenses I don't need on this kit...
Gundam Base, huh? Do they still sell this kit? I think this and the Titans Color P-Bandai version are actually the only versions of the GM Powered Super Fumina I'm missing. Still got the AEUG version in the backlog, which at this point I think I'll save for an October build. I've got something fun in mind since I have the original Super Fumina... ...and in no way whatsoever related, @SPLIT LIP, what's your favorite HG kit?
Blue Fin HAD some of those left but they've cleared their inventory of those older Expo kits they had. However, they've updated their Premium Exclusives selection to include the RG Perfect Strike Perfect Strike Gundam "Gundam Seed", Bandai RG 1/144
