You'll love it. I have Miria and Max back to back, they look glorious in 1/48. I didn't realize how much remolding went into the two-seaters until I looked the VE. I'm convinced that Arcadia will do the rest, if only because HMR has already done most of them. They need to ride the wave of the interest. I can't really believe that someone is going to shell more money for a MISB Yamato V2 Elintseeker, now that Arcadia has one out, but the resale prices on Mandarake and Jungle are interesting. Maybe someone really wants a pristine set of Yamato boxes?
@Scowly Prowl Yamato hipsters who want to pretend they had it before Arcadia sold out and made everything more expensive? I'm seriously looking back on some of the prices for the 30th anniversary 1/60 Yamatos and wishing I'd been paying attention to them at the time. under $100 seems like a great price for the 1/60s, I would have picked up several at that price. $200+... harder sell.
Those were great prices. That's the thing.... those sales were commonplace and at the time, no one was thinking they'd see secondary prices shoot up the way they did after Yamato went out of business. I think that took all of us by surprise because it wasn't just Yamato Macross toys that went up in the secondary market, ALL Macross toys did. For example, the VF HI METAL FAST packs used to sit for $10, no one wanted them. I looked last week and some sets were going for $90 before shipping from Japan and that wasn't even on eBay. It wasn't even commonplace to see a 1/55 reissue break $100 in the secondary market but it is now. That late 2000's timeframe was great for getting Yamato Macross toys. Yamato V2 1/60 VF-1's sans armor and Destroids for $60+, FAST packs for $30, Qraus for $30, YF-19 Bird of Prey/Double Nuts and YF-21 sans armor and VF-22S sitting for $100, 1/48's sitting for $100..even with FAST packs.. I think the only thing I rarely saw down in price were the 1/60 VF-11's. Though truth be told, my main regrets were passing on the following: VF-11C All 1/60 Destroids(wish I had at least 1 each, didn't matter if normal or weathered) VF-1S Unpaint version VF-1S Max VF-1S Low vis VT-1 Super Ostrich
You know some of the prices I've paid to get into the game over the past year. Insane. That's why other than the few key ones I wanted I'm just moving forward with DX since I was able to catch the SDFM ones just about at release. And even then, I've had to pay for at least one at a slight markup. This is the reason I'm not all-in on HMR and have decided not to to with any of the previous 1/48 or 1/60s. Even the 1/55 reissues were a pill to swallow. I'm a decade late on this for sure.
Don't forget that the first Yamato VE-1's came w/ Rainbow canopies. I would suspect the ones w/ these tinted canopies will still hold their value, even after the PF Arcadia release. It's the 30th Anniversary edition version's value that will tank as that has nothing to offer over the PF Arcadia release. Plus, some are buying the older Yamato's to swap out the canopies with the PF and then selling off the leftover parts. I've already seen franken-VE-1's going for decent prices.
Yamato stopped using the rainbow plating on the canopies since it would crack over time, so I wonder if the guys that are swapping are applying Future or a clear coat? What's odd is that I have a Strike Focker from 2008 and super/Strike Hikaru 1A from 2008-2009, the Focker 1S doesn't have the cracked rainbow plating but my Hikaru 1A does.
Fantastic! What scale is that city? Looks to be 1/144 or 1/200 maybe? Man I'd love to set up a display like that so I could use it for all of my various figures, but before I settled on a scale I'd need to actually find a home for it.
It's designed to be modular, as it separates into nine separate segments with streets and intersections at consistent points. I usually only need two or three sections when taking outdoor shots.
Finally got a Detolf set up in my office. I'm going to have to re-evaluate once I get the other DX's in. I have HMR in Detolfs in the basement and some for TFs too. But I get to stare at this one in my office daily now, so it's prime real estate. DX is king.
I am willing to sacrifice to help you with your DX dilemma by offering to buy them off of you. That way you won't have to figure out how to rearrange your display. Problem solved! Just kidding. Liking the display and the old VFs near the bottom. I am still in love with that version. Edit: I forgot to add the jealousy of the old SDF-1 in there as well. It really is beautiful.
Haha! Thanks man! Yeah, the Chunkies and DX are my favorite hands down. Not sure what I'll shuffle around over the next year but I guess that's the fun of it!
If you all are wondering how @tekering gets Shin Godzilla without the evidence of broken melee buildings and such... It's all anime magic!!
