I figured Trailbreaker/Hoist would come sooner. They were mold mates from diaclone, with lots of potential repaint, which seems like easy money.

Tbh, I think it's more likely that the legacy of bayverse and it's movie designs will get axed from the brand itself by the end of 2021 once hastaks MPM/SS agendas are completed. Reasons behind this would involve the potential Optimus Prime solo movie and everyones clamor for that design to get an MPM treatment, thus leading to the Knightverse path for the line. You must also take into consideration that SS could be the final resting place for the sequel designs in terms of updates because it's much easier to invest in those vs 07 crew which is getting higher investments through MPMs.

Also, know that hastak gave no satisfactions to ROTF in being recalled on it's 10th anniversary merely because... they don't want to. DOTM (& the other sequels) could definitely be on the same boat. If we EVER end up seeing another "Camaro" Bumblebee in this line, it might just be for the B-127 sequel.

They should do BW2 Galvatron next, ya know the one that looks like a Digimon villain? I never watched BW2 (I should though) but I like his ridiculous yet cool design, I'd buy an MP of him in a heartbeat.

They'll come sooner or later. About the only '84/'85 characters (other than another Starscream redo) that I'm 100% sure of.

My guess would be that Trailbreaker and Hoist are pretty much ready to go, but they’re not exactly sexy figures, and they’re not deemed popular enough to drive sales on their own. Probably compounded by their price point being higher due to larger size and having complex transformations.

Hoist had a prominent role in a couple of spotlights, but as a bumbler, and was otherwise pretty forgettable. Trailbreaker never got much spotlight except for using his force Field, so again, a lesser character really.

My guess is that they’ll show up between bigger noise releases like Jazz and Mirage and a couple of mid-range BW characters like Terrorsaur to keep the line plugging along and everyone fed.

Way to make me feel old!

Edit - the reveals of MP-01 and BT-01 coincided with me joining these boards as well. Probably so I could comment that I was hoping for clear rather than blue windows. :)

Hey, I love TB, but the honest truth is that he’s not a prominent character, and he doesn’t have a sexy alt mode.

If it means anything, my all-time Transformers are Mirage and Gears - two characters that have gotten a lot of shade in the past.

I think @Swoop is pointing out that 2023 isn’t the 30th Anniversary of MP..

With the old plan I think they were eventual shoe-ins. Now, I wouldn't say they're unlikely...but I don't think they're locks anymore. If these lesser characters take a sales hit at the new price points, the line is probably going to fall back to being even more a greatest hits line like the pre-MP-10 days.

I don't think Hound is any more prominent or popular, said I'm not sure I agree.

Right...but he's pretty much the first test of a lesser character at these new, obnoxious prices. Sunstreaker saw a price increase, too, but he was still under $100 shipped if imported. Hound literally costs what MP Ultra Magnus cost... He sells great and it's business as usual. But if he doesn't, it could have consequences on what we see from the line going forward.

Doubt it makes a difference , just comparing Hound to another 7-in figure released 2 yrs ago,

Hound's price isn't as bat sh!t as we make it. The difference is we've been accustomed to getting MPs cheaper, and now they are pricing them in comparison to their market. I get that,I bet a candy bar being 1.39 or something now bothers somebody who grew up on 89 cent candy bars a lot less, versus me growing up on 45, 50 cent ones.

I guess my question, though, if w're comparing it to other lines...do the other lines do all the characters, major and minor...or do they only do the most popular ones? I don't collect much else for toys so I don't know. I think the MP line can survive releasing the greatest hits at stupid prices. They might also be able to survive releasing the deeper cuts at the same stupid prices...but it remains to be seen.
